Topre Realforce Numpads for less than USD retail
« on: Wed, 22 February 2017, 14:32:28 »
The going rate for Topre Realforce Numpads in the USA is $109.99 + shipping and tax.  I found that Amazon.co.jp has the white ones in stock for approximately $93 including shipping.  I just paid 10,497 JPY shipped, which at the time of purchase converted to $92.78. Here is the link: http://amzn.asia/3qHSjal (note that not all listed merchants participate in the Amazon Global Shipping program; if the seller with the lowest price doesn't, it will tell you when you try to check out).

Edit: I should note, for those concerned about shipping time internationally, that Amazon uses an express service.  Last time I did this (for a Filco wrist rest), it arrived next day to Los Angeles.

Edit 2: Pro tip -- select the option to pay amazon itself in JPY.  Your credit card company will give you a better currency conversion rate than what Amazon offers.  (Look for this choice near the price box during checkout).

Also Massdrop has then for $104.99, but they include a special coloured "RealForce" keycap.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Express shipping (1-2 days) cost JPY 1,079 ($9.53 as charged by my Cc company).   It's pretty great.  Search for anything ald limit your search to AmazonGlobal Eligible.  See attached screenshot.
