Anyone who has bought Poker 2 can give some suggestion?
« on: Wed, 17 May 2017, 02:41:54 »
I want to buy an IKBC Poker 2. Can people who have bought this keyboard give some reviews? Is it worth to buy? Also, I searched the price of Poker 2. It's $109.99 on Amazon, while some online stores sell it in a lower price, eg. https://www.armyourdesk.com/search?type=product&q=poker2, only $92.99. Are these online stores reliable?

This is New Poker II. It was recently on MD for $79.99 and during the drop Amazon price was $99.99. It features new font, no more "enjoy your feeling" on the spacebar, USB C interface and a new case shape that's probably incompatible with aftermarket cases. Unfortunately I haven't tried one but if the drop would include MX Clears that I wanted at the time I would buy it.

Link below to the MD discussion, maybe you'll find anything that helps you:

Take the plunge and buy a pok3r. Stock aluminum case, steel plate, no "enjoy your feeling" on the spacebar, 100% compatible for aftermarket mods, thick OEM pbt keycaps stock etc. It will run you 130 but it has black or white options, rgb or normal (rgb has worse caps) and newer switch options.

It says "the drop has ended" for poker 2. Did it really sell $79.99? The price is too low. The price on Amazon now is $109.99. I think I'm ok with the price $92.99 on the store https://www.armyourdesk.com/search?type=product&q=poker2.

Have you bought a pok3r? What's its advantages over poker 2?

The Pok3r comes with a metal case.

That's the main difference, I think it has more programmable layers too.

Dunno about this new Poker 2 tho.

After owning a Poker 2 for a few months (the "old" one, not this new one) and having worked on a few Pok3rs I'd say just buy the Pok3r. The stock metal case is pretty nice and will make the board feel much better in person than the cheap plastic case that comes with 2s.

Side note about the keycaps, you'll end up replacing them regardless of what board you buy. Both boards come with thick pbt caps but the legends are laser etched and infilled so they'll wear off with regular use.

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

I totally recommend this one. Poker 2 such like iphone 4, it is an epochal shift. If you like DIY keycaps, Pls buy it with some keycap sets.

I bought Pok3r. In comparison to the New Poker II it has floating key design, aluminum case, wider switch selection, RGB and backlighting options, Bank Gothic font which I like, compatible PCB and backplate with aftermarket cases. The only advantage of the New Poker II is USB C port in my opinion and that's it.
