Satan GH60 3 Keys not working
« on: Tue, 28 February 2017, 10:08:31 »
Hello @All Hope someone could help me. I have soldered the board with the switches test it and all switches are working. Then i would put the left Crtl win and Alt Caps on it and see that 2 switches was soldered wrong. So i de solder  "alt" and "win" (left side). And put it on the right place. But after this this 3 switches are not working anymore: Crtl, Win and Alt (left side).
So i buy a multifunction meter to test the diodes around the resoldered switches. But it looks like all is ok. Has any a idea what could be wrong. I think it is a Hardware Problem. All other switches are working.

Could you post a picture of the area around the switches?

A picture would be really helpful but before that's posted I have a few guesses as to the problem.
- The diodes work but are backwards
- During the desoldering you lifted a few pads or broke a trace
- When you moved the switches you didn't move the diodes that go with them
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Hello,
thanks for the reply. Here now the image to view the location of the desoldered switches (right down, last row).

It's hard to see if anything is wrong with the pcb based on that picture. The soldering does not look that bad.

Have anyone a PCB layout  from the Satan Gh60 so i could check something in detail with my multimeter.

Test continuity between these 4 points. The side of the diode with the stripe. They should all be connected.

Hi a-c,
i have check the connectivity but there is no connectivity. But this will also not working on the right side of the PCB and this switches are working. Tested also within other rows but nothing.

How are you testing? Are you using a meter with a continuity test setting? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G622WDZaHg

Hello I have figured out that i have the following connections (red arrows):

Also i have connections between diodes: D10, D09, D08 and D07 also in the next colum D05, D04, D03 and D02

So i think from this path it looks good, also the diaode test between this path are working only in one direction.
So I need to figure out the other path from the 3 switches. Did someone know where i have to test?

Each row should have one pin of the switch connected to each other. The pin not connected to the diode.

OK that is the point i think the last three switches have no connection at this  pin to the other within the last row. Last point of that connetion is the spacebar switch. Did you think if i make a connection with a wire between the red dots that it could work again?
The green dots have connection the red one not

Yes, reconnecting it with a piece of wire will complete the circuit and those three switches should then work.

i think when you removed the switches to put them in a different place, you damaged the pcb on the switch side of the board.  did you use a little metal screwdriver to pry the switch up?  if so, you might have damaged the top side of the board.
