ergodox left hand issue
« on: Thu, 22 March 2018, 23:50:27 »
hi,

my first keyboard build, and I chose ergodox...not sure if this was a good one to start with.
After soldering all of the components, and flashing the teensy the right hand side works, the left hand side does not. After reading some of the posts, it was suggested to reflow the solder joints to make sure they are all connected which I did (maybe in excess) but it did not help.

I verified the following:

1. using a TRRS cable
2. checked continuity between the TRRS jack solder points with the cable plugged in (cable is brand new and seems to work)
3. I do have jumpers on both sides of the TRRS jacks

I have attached pictures in case anyone has suggestions or can see something that is incorrect.

Is there any kind of diagnostics that can be done on the left side? Some have mentioned trying to measure the voltage on the IO expander, are there any guides on doing this? Is this something that can be checked with a multimeter by using the VSS (ground) and VDD(power) pins?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
L

upon closer look, seems I was sent an MCP23017 instead of an MCP23018...same size different chip.
gaaaargh!!
