Noisy filco switch

If you don't care about the back-story, skip the first two paragraphs :)

I've had my FKBN87M/NPEK for a few months now and really enjoy it.  However, after the first few days, I noticed a couple of keys had a strange reverberation when I released them.  A "springy echo" is how I would describe it.  The easiest way to reproduce it was to slowly press the key all the way down, wait a second, and then release.  But the sound happened with normal movements while typing too.  For those of you with filco keyboards, is this a normal sound?

I contacted elitekeyboards and they sent me over a new keyboard.  I tested all the keys and to my dismay I found the 'e' was now producing the noise.  I decided to just get used to it and that I was probably being picky (this is my first mechanical keyboard).

Anyway, it's still pretty annoying, and rather than taking a chance on yet another keyboard and possibly having the sound on more than one key, I wanted to know, how difficult is it to swap the switch on the 'e' key with one of the lesser used keys?  Can I do this without voiding my warranty?  Is it possible to just swap some pieces of the switch?  Like the spring?

As you can tell, I don't know much about this, so any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I've never performed this task myself but the few times that I've heard it come up, it's always seemed like it's not worth the effort.
To be honest, I think it's a waste of time and you will be especially disappointed if it doesn't fix your issue or if the switch that you swap in eventually starts having the problem too.

It'd be interesting to hear a recording of the culprit key though - if possible.

Unfortunately, I tried recording it but the problem sound seems to be too high-pitched and neither the microphone on my computer nor my camera capture it

Stick it on a mousemat and enjoy the keyboard.

Hmm, I wish it was that simple but it doesn't seem to make a difference.  Thank you for the suggestion though

You  can hear this sound on ANY spring based switch if you hold the back of the keyboard up to your ear.

But I only hear it on the 'e', not on other keys.  I hear it during normal typing; I'm not holding my head next to the keyboard!

It seems like swapping a switch is not so straight-forward since it voids my warranty.  I guess I'll hold off on it for now.

I'm interested to see if others can hear this noise on some keys like I do.  If so, I'll just accept it's a quirk I have to get used to.  If not, then I'll contact elitekeyboards again and see what they say.
