RJ11/RJ12 keyboards (HP 700/96 and Idea Courier) to USB or PS/2?
« on: Wed, 13 February 2019, 09:07:05 »
I recently got a HP 700/96 terminal with original keyboard. It uses the RJ12 standard to connect to the terminal.

I'm about acquiring a Idea Courier 122RX33S-305E keyboard that, according to the seller, uses RJ11.

One of the things I was going to ask was if I could plug the Idea Courier keyboard in the HP 700/96 terminal but I just learnt that RJ11 and RJ12 are different things, although they use the same connector. So, let's skip this question.

So, here we go: anybody know if any (or both) of these keyboards use a standard protocol (PS/2?) so I can easily use an adapter? The seller of the Idea Courier keyboard said I can just use a standard RJ11/USB adapter. I didn't know this converter existed and I found one on ebay, but they say it is to use your USB port as modem.
