Chicony 5161A at xt converter

Hi, i am actualy normie in keyboard world. I bought chicony kb-5161a with alps blue and i don't have converter from at xt to usb/ps2. Is there any way to check that keyboard work? I see some converters on e bay for like 40$ (+15$ for shipng) there is any cheaper way to use that keyboard? Or any tips to check there pcb/switches works fine?

If it supports AT then you can use the cheap passive converters that do 5pin to ps2. If only XT, then you need one of the fancier active converters.

That should work fine.

Yup that converter will work for ps/2. For USB you may need an "active" converter, not just a passive one, but I'm not sure on that.

But i still don't know much about keyboards. And still don't know that keyboard works. Converter will be today. If it will not work. I'm gonna build some custom keyboard on those alps. But as i say im normie in that. So where can i find help?

You could use those switches for a custom... But they'll never sound as nice as they do in that Chicony .

You could use those switches for a custom... But they'll never sound as nice as they do in that Chicony .

I know that, now the sound is so deep. But the metal plate inside is a little rusted and pcb has a little bit of some "red" coating around some solders. Also i have only one leg, the buyer did not have the other one. There is so much work to renew it and I don't know where to start.

Weird things happend with that keyboard. Converter is come. I conect it to keyboard port in my computer and keyboard to it and nothing happend. Keyboard "Works" only when i plug it in on XT mode, then all 3 lights shiine and this is all. Keyboard not reacting. Any tips?

EDIT: Never mind. It was enough to set the at mode and restart the computer. All keys work, although "w" sometimes seems to not get activated. Maybe it's my wont to mx speed.
