Anyone have MX Pink?
« on: Sun, 18 December 2016, 05:56:19 »
I'm thinking about switching to them from Gateron Red, but I hate the scratchiness of Cherry switches when compared to Gateron. I've read some reviews on the newer silent Pink switches (Cherry MX red silent?) feel like they're lubed, or very smooth. Is there any truth to this? Anyone have experience with them as a daily driver? Thanks

I had these were my very first mechanical switch actually. They were exclusive to Corsair in their strafe rgb for 6 months I believe. I never noticed any immediate scratchiness but they are dampened so didn't have the proper "mechanical" feel. The bottom out just wasn't as satisfying as an individual dampened switch which I didn't know until after I got my second mechanical keyboard. I've sold the keyboard now so I can't give you an exact answer but from what I remember they weren't too bad if you like orings.

I am typing on a keyboard with MX pinks right now (a Filco Majestouch-2), and I prefer it over the same keyboard with MX reds (of which I have three, plus many other boards with MX reds). I don't know if I would say that they feel lubed since I don't know what a lubed MX switch feels like. But I would expect that even if MX pinks weren't actually lubed, they would get smoother with continuous use just like MX reds do.

Pinks are pretty smooth. Not vintage black or Gateron smooth, but way smoother than standard MX Reds.
I'm not a big fan of them though because they feel softer due to the dampening. Sound is very nice (very similar to silenced Topre), but I really miss the solid bottom out of normal linear switch. Without it, the switch feels kinda mushy to me. Also it might be subconcious but it also feels a bit slower than undampened switch.

I agree with this assessment. The only difference is that I don't mind how they feel, and I think I could get addicted to them. And I definitely do not miss the haptic impact of MX reds since that comes with too much noise. The soft thud of the MX pinks is solid enough for me.  :thumb:

I am now faced with the quest to replace all my main drivers with MX pink-equipped equivalents. Here's hoping the Varmilo VA108M and Vortex Pok3r soon become available with MX pinks.

They sound scratchy to me, sadly. You can hear it badly in this vid (wear headphones):

Sounds terrible to be honest in the video above, but then in this video they sound great:

I've tried the cherry mx silents on a corsair strafe, and they were more smooth than reds.

I'm pretty sure they're lubed from the factory after finding a post on the forums. This post has the user opening a switch and seeing some type of lubrication. He also states it's a similar experience to typing on a Topre board.

Most importantly and surprisingly, I can see the factory-oil inside of the switch. I'm not sure if you can see the oil in the picture but appearance the oil appears on the stem and the copper legs.

It is as smooth as Cherry MX Red lubed with Krytox 105 but lighter and not sticky!

I know this is an old post but i've stumbled on this before buying pinks a few days ago on a rog strix flare, it is indeed weird being my first linear keyboard coming from outemu blues. They did feel sluggish at first and they did feel smooth but sounded a tad scratchy but over the past few days of breaking them in they have lost that sound and indeed have began to feel smoother and faster loosing it's sluggish touch. IT is just a matter of time breaking the keyboard. Its a respectable switch
