Microsoft doesn't like IBM
« on: Sat, 22 May 2010, 02:34:50 »

The above image was microsoft's laptop scout feature a few years back. This screenshot is already a few years old, but I thought I would post it for all to enjoy.

First thing that caught my was the thinkpad. But look at what the bubble says "this laptop is about as heavy as a SMALL DOG?!?!"

Thinkpads are actually very light, one of the lighter laptops I've held. Still light even with the 9-cell battery packs.

Good comeback. (not really) ;)

Lame? I think not. In fact, I'm posting this using that 1987 Amiga 500. You try that with a 1987 PC running Windows 1.0. I dare you.

You actually could if you used Arachne.

Fascinating. It looks like you're right.

But... the 1987 PC would certainly be heavier than a small dog. ;)

Well someone has to weigh this bastard:

So, go run and weigh your amiga, then someone with a 1987 PS/2 computer can weigh theirs.

I would if I had one.

30-286, in the same case with roughly equivalent hardware inside (that's a 55SX pictured), is "a couple Model Ms" in weight.

Additionally, 55SX is 386 and MCA. Screw that.

I think this picture here basically covers the weight difference between 1987 PC and Amiga 500:

Please use standard American units. How many small dogs is that?

I've got a 2 year old shih tzu (is that considered an American unit??). I'd say the computer is maybe 3 of her.

Cute!  Barks softly and carries a big stick!

Not so soft. Surprisingly loud and deep bark, actually.

She does like big sticks though.

Unpossible.  The dog pictured is clearly a Welsh Corgi (weight ~13 kilos), so only metric (or possibly Imperial) small dog units are appropriate.
