[GB] cypher f-row less compact 1800 [Completed]
« on: Sat, 06 July 2019, 03:54:03 »
4th Update: Everything, including boards with assembly service, has been shipped.

3rd Update:

All the cases, plates and PCBS are now with David & Yuliia at mykeyboard.eu HQ. QC is now in process. Still working on getting the ancillary parts together so we can start packaging and shipping.

2nd Update:

I am still trying to nail down specifics of current ETA. All I know is there are a lot of delays with the machining work. I'm hopeful we can get them out this year still and am trying to chase down more information of where we are with all suppliers.

Sorry for the delay

1st Update:

Currently all production is booked and paid for and underway.

Post Sale edit:

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We sold 100 spots in 37 minutes exactly, I never expected the board to be this popular and it's really heartwarming having everyone be so excited about something that I've made.
There is a waitlist form which we will use in case people drop out of the 100 spots
for any changes please send me an email: info@cablecardesigns.co
Invoices will start to be sent out this week

Hello fellow mechanical keyboard users,

The Group Buy for the cypher will be live this coming Tuesday the 9th of July @ 9PM BST/10PM CEST/4PM ET/1PM PT

The price will be $335(€295) ex vat + shipping (VAT charged by default for EU buyers, ROW will be your local taxes) (shipping inside Europe should be €10-20 and worldwide will be €30-50)

Group buy will run for 4 weeks or until we hit the upper limit of 100 boards.

After the conclusion of the group buy production will be 2-3 months and shipping will be done ASAP afterwards. If everything goes well the boards should be shipping out towards the end of september/beginning of October.

6° typing angle

Supports ANSI/ISO, a few bottom rows for keycap compatibility and split or 2u backspace KLE of layouts]

Type C/QMK PCB

As for the options nailed down from the last IC.

3 Colours:

- Matte Black (Pantone 426 C)

- Dark Blue (Pantone 533 C)

- Dark Red (Pantone 188 C)

Although Grey and Black were the 2 most popular I decided to not produce both colours due to the hard limit of 3 total. Apologies to anyone who was hoping for something else. If we do a R3 of the board then it will be the 3 next most popular colours.

Plate Material:
  • Brass
  • Polycarbonate
  • Carbon Fibre

Depending on demand, ISO and Split Spacebar will likely be only made in a single material due to some internal MOQs and the expense incurred. (the GB form will reflect this)

Any questions please ask here, in the reddit GB thread or in the mykeyboard.eu discord server: Link here

Thanks

I was thinking solarized dark with blue. Hard to picture the grey/black or grey/white of oblivion on blue. I guess I need to widen my thinking.

Keyboards have been selling out fast lately. Board sales used to be up for weeks while spots slowly filled. This is starting to get out of hand like artisans some years ago (Thinking back to the first trans clacks going for $500 in after market).

I feel like the hobby has been expanding a lot recently.  I know some people think that spots go so fast just because of people buying to flip (which certainly does happen).  But in general I am seeing way more people get into aftermarket keyboards.  Even looking at gaming subreddits people are shifting from razer/corsair to nicer stuff - and then probably transitioning into the hobby like I did, and then joined this GB

This hobby really has grown a lot. All the high quality custom kits are produced in small quantities which just isn't enough to accommodate all the people that flood into this hobby. That could be a good thing for me though as I really should stop buying more.

This should open up more market for retailers to offer high end boards. They could handle more volume. Maybe kbdfans will be joined by others.

What are the dimensions of the board? Want to make a wrist rest and make sure it's perfectly sized.

Width: 380.425 mm (not including 3mm corner fillets)
Height at back: 29.47 mm

I had removed it but re-added because of a majority vote (around 80% of people wanted it)

It supports 6u, 6.25u, and 7u. Here’s the KLE for the Cypher:  http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/0e8d4957e77f3179aa09bd6e195f7afa

Sorry for the delay in replying! I have been in touch with all the manufacturing partners and looks like we are going to be receiving everything last week of November. When I have some more solid information I will send out an email update, just waiting to hear back on a couple of things.

Potentially a few, depending on QC but there won't be many at all. There's already been a lot of interest in a further run so once this has concluded that will be something we look into.
