I listened to the most recent episode, where they have a call in hotline, and someone named Issac claims to have the 4th most posts on GeekHack. Show yourself!

The stats suggest otherwise but I didn't know if they've posted their real name on the board so wasn't sure where the doxxing line is :p

Btw what the actual... DALExSNAIL's post count is out of this world and they've only been a user since 2016  Is this an in-joke database post bump or real?

Was just listening and about to comb through the numbers and see if I could find it myself.

Figures there's already a thread  :)

Since I have been here, there have been at least 2-3 occasions where posts were un-counted or decreased. During r00tw0rm I think that I lost at least half of my count.

But I can't compete with these multi-thousand users.
"Starting in 2011, the deficits again started to shrink. During Obama’s term  the deficit was reduced by $900 Billion  before finally in 2015 the GOP managed to wrangle a “reconciliation” bill out of Obama where he again cut corporate taxes, as well as made permanent some of George W. Bush’s original tax cuts. This is the year everything reversed. Before this, under Clinton, Bush and Obama the deficit in almost every year was gradually decreasing. The balance we had of taxes and the economy was bringing the deficit down, the money coming in was slowly catching up with the money going out until 2015. Trump’s subsequent tax cut has continued the new trend even after the rest of Bush’s cuts have since expired. Obama had an average GDP of 2.3%, with 11.6 million jobs created and unemployment peaking at 10% in 2009, then falling to 4.3% in 2016. If we had continued on that downward deficit track, we would have again reached balance and another surplus in 2017-2018.

I figured it out for sure but now I'm not sure if I should out him.

Also the "mystery goo" is almost certainly an animal's placenta.

Ohhhhhhh. That must be what it is. How did you come to think of that? I was considering emailing him even though I'm not balding. He's also prob not just giving out the answer to just anyone.

Is animal placenta really that expensive and rare though?

it probably is if you want large quantities of it and don't want to breed the animals yourself.

I'm rather new here so don't have any frame of reference who any of you are, but am a longtime fan of Reply All.

I thought it was a really lovely call and was very interested when the caller discussed the impact of this hobby on mental health. As I said, I'm new here, and haven't gone further than plugging in a few switches and popping on some new keycaps, but already I've had MAJOR time and money sucked from browsing through GH and Reddit and reading up on switches, watching YouTube videos on how to solder, compiling my own lists and spreadsheets. And I have plans to go full-on electronics geek by rebuilding an old Kaypro keyboard, who knows what rabbit holes that will send me down.

I've definitely been retreating down the keyboard rabbit hole as a way to deal with other stresses in my life. I just thought it was a very tender, interesting interview and a peek into how these obsessive/methodical hobbies/subcultures can indulge certain parts of our brains/personalities, for better or for worse.

I've had this thread open in a browser tab for nine months now, and I finally listened to that segment of the podcast.

The caller does mention a keyboard spreadsheet that he kept and then deleted. I do recall someone who did this, but I can't remember if it was Puddsy. Just another clue.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.
