Hi,

some time last year, Cherry announced their new low profile switches and explicitly mentioned laptops as a possible application:

https://www.cherrymx.de/en/mx-low-profile/mx-low-profile-red.html

But somehow, I still haven't seen any laptops coming out that utilise them.

Do you know of any?

I took a quick look and it appears that the Aorus X9 (https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/aorus-x9) has been using it over a year ago. It's one of those extremely expensive (~$4k) laptops though, more like a portable PC at that point.

Thanks for the answer.

I had already expected that these switches would probably only be used in gaming laptops, but it's a pity that the only one to actually use them is such an extreme machine. I hope there'll be a more mainstream (and less expensive) laptop with these switches at some time.

The Aorus X9 has "brown" thin mechanical switches from TTC. You can see a render of one disassembled in Gigabyte's video. Gigabytes mentions the keyboard only as a "Mechanical AORUS RGB Fusion Keyboard" in their specs, not mentioning the manufacturer.
Not much is known about those TTC switches, but there are images of white and blue ones here.
Cherry MXLP exist only in linear varieties, not brown.

The Cherry MXLP are not as small as other low-profile switches. Therefore, I find it unlikely that we are going to see them in a laptop.
Cherry gave priority to the key feel being close to that of Cherry MX over making it as small as possible.
The TTC switches are 7.1mm whereas Cherry MXLP are 12mm.

Thanks for the clarification. So it seems there isn't, and likely won't be a laptop using these...

Oh well, laptop keyboards suck anyhow.
