Having issues with stabilizers?
« on: Mon, 14 October 2019, 21:29:56 »
Recently finished a build using kbdfans' dz60rgb hot swap + plate. Figured it'd be a good first custom before I move onto doing a soldered board. Anyways, I've found an issue when removing keycaps from any key that has a stabilizer, that sometimes the cap is a little too snug and manages to unhook the bar on the stabs.

Is there a way I can avoid this? I've tried pulling gentler, but sometimes the sudden force of the cap coming off unlatches the bar. Right now it's okay, I can deal with removing the switches to snap the bar back in, but I can't imagine it'd be much fun on a soldered board.

Using snap-in stabs from kbdfans.

Try bent tweezers, or any thin, hard tool with a right angle. Use them to hold the stabilizer while pulling the keycaps.

This ended up helping me out, it seems so obvious now lol.  Thanks!
