Hello Geekhack,
I have here a very preliminary interest check for a keycap set display case. I am an industrial design student and I have come up with this potential product as part of one of my studio classes.
I found that the majority of enthusiasts have more keycap sets than keyboards, and also that in many cases keysets are stored in ziploc bags and hidden away. This is an odd gap between value and storage method, especially in the case of expensive and hyped sets. This discrepancy illustrates a gap in the market for a storage solution to contain and display sets that aren’t currently being used.

This display case is intended to serve as both a storage solution and a display solution. It provides a replacement for GMK trays which hide the caps from view and can be flimsy, and has enough vertical space to hold SA keycaps, solving a problem that exists with JTK trays.

It is quite easy to access the keycaps for mounting, with simple slide-out trays reminiscent of some jewelry storage solutions. The trays and the window are made of acrylic, laser cut and acrylic welded together, and the case is a painted wood.

This case has 4 trays, which should provide enough space for fully kitted out keysets or two different base-kit-only keysets. Notice each tray has a dedicated spot for the ISO Enter, allowing both ANSI and ISO users to display a full 60% plus F-row set on the top tray.

The case could be painted in colour to reflect the set it will hold.

Thank you very much for reading. Please keep in mind that this design is very preliminary at this point - I am posting here in hope of receiving community feedback on the viability and desirability of this project, as well as feedback on aesthetics and functionality. If the interest is great I will begin working on manufacturing logistics, but at the moment I am looking for feedback and validation of the design.
