Hello Geekhack! Recently I received this Cherry G80-9009 which seems to be in somewhat of a disarray.
The case and keys are very yellowed and the Reuters logo hasn't just been rubbed off, it looks as if someone has taken to it with a dremel.. I cannot understand why the Trading logo would need to be removed for resale,
but alas.
Some parts of the main logic board seem to have some corrosion. Hopefully this is something I can fix with a good clean.
I think the main challenge is going to be dealing with the deep scratches on the top of the board, I think what I will do is putty them, and sponge texture the putty while it is wet to keep the textured plastic. Maybe then I can paint the case and it will help to hide the abuse this poor board has received. Unfortunately this will remove the remaining logos on the case, but I might have an idea for that as well.
My aim is to restore this board to its (almost) former glory, any tips and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and be sure to follow this thread for updates on the process
