Gigabyte FORCE K83 - still good choice in 2020?
« on: Fri, 07 February 2020, 12:03:25 »
I found this keyboard in one store in my country for 55 euros. Got me interested because it has original Cherry MX RED switches. I can't find anything in similar price range with true Cherry MX switches. Keyboard is from 2015. It don't have any backlight or volume scroll or anything. Just basic mechanical keyboard.uc browser shareit appvn I don't mind RGB and similar, it would be nice but still it's not big plus for me when buying keyboard.

I'm fan of brown switches and if it had brown switcher I wouldn't think a minute. Now I'm wondering if I should buy it because of good price for cherry switch and maybe good build quility?

I don't know if Gigabyte has any other mechanical keyboard at this time

I have the K81 (which is the same keyboard but with Kailh switches). Build quality is alright, the stabilizers are quite bad (especially spacebar is very wobbly and rattly). The keys also pinged a lot, but that might be either due to the open-top case or due to the cheaper switches. Another keyboard with Outemu Reds and an open top case pings even more.

Unless you can find a similar keyboard with Gateron switches, I'd say go for it.
