[GB] KAT Specimen | Production finished
« on: Mon, 20 April 2020, 03:10:16 »

The group buy has been over for some time and was a success!

Production is finished, now it's onto the boxes and sorting which will take 1-2 weeks according to zFrontier. Then shipping can commence :)
I'm not sure, but I think the earliest people would be getting their sets is in 1.5 months, but like I said, I'm not experienced enough
to make a good guess.

We also have a few (shoddy at best) images of the sets :D. I'm pretty happy with how they are looking, but only seeing it in person will tell
how good it looks.

+1.

Would also like to hear whether the issues that KAT Milkshake faced will affect this set.

Just assume that yes, there will be a major delay. zFrontier isn't communicating with me for some reason, so I am unable to provide any detailed information or estimate. I am really sorry for this annoying situation. I will update the post if I get my hands on any concrete info.

Oof. Kono says production is underway and that they'll be shipped in late summer.

Should be coming soon as zF said the set is getting printed at the end of the month - I'm excited too :) Thanks for the support!

Fingers seriously crossed for no issues out of the gates. Luckily, it seems Key is more than happy to fix anything super quick, but hopefully fixing it for Eternal means it won't happen again! I will be patiently sitting on my porch until then.

Production is done, packing and sorting should take 1-2 weeks and then shipping to vendors and then customers can begin. I'd say 1-1.5 months is a fair guess.

Dang... Really wish I had gotten into the hobby earlier to get in on these. That orange row would be a PERFECT match to my keyboard. Can’t wait to pay half my paycheck for this set on mech market. Truly amazing work! Looks incredible :)

Eh, it'll comeback around eventually, or something very similar will, don't worry about it. Now some of the keyboard cases I've missed out on... I guess i'm just out of luck.

I got had samples sent to me from zF a long while ago before the GB even began and decided on the final colors based on that.

Received my KAT Specimen Ortho kit a few days ago, just put it on a Preonic Rev3. The colours turned out really well! This is my first KAT set, the sculpt will take a bit of getting used to, but I love the texture and the fact it's PBT. KAT might just be my new favourite profile :)

However, did anybody else receive a 1.75u space with their Ortho kit instead of a 2u? How do I get it replaced? I assume I'll have to go through the vendor.

Also, the 2 1u space keys are not convex, and I assume the 2u space won't be either... Why is that? That's really disappointing. I thought the molds existed...

That's not good. I received my set from MyKeyboard just before Christmas... Even received the missing 2u spacebar since then, which is convex to my surprise and delight.

Ive got my specimen, really great set. Unfortunately there are two keys missing in the extra set, the 1U ALT and 1U CTRL. My vendor told me that this was a factory issue and they have to remake those keys. is this correct? All sets are affected..... Can someone confirm this?

Hi,

thanks for your reply.

but shouldn't you have an overview and further information, if there were any issues by the production vendor?.

Thanks for the info. I checked my paypal and email history but I couldn't find anything confirming that I have ordered specimen keycaps from mykeyboard.eu. I was like how on earth?! (This is the second time I experience this with mykeyboard.eu, and funny enough the first time was a kat alpha set I thought I've ordered from them).

I think I know what happed to you since I made the "same" mistake once.
When you checkout the basket you click on paypal then you come back on mykeyboard page.

You think then it's enough but no ... check on the bottom the button "place order" or something like that. Once you click the basket is validated and email is sent !

It got me once  :-\
