Durgod k320 spacebar problem
« on: Sat, 16 May 2020, 04:42:44 »
Hello.  :)
Im the owner of durgod k320 taurus. I have a problem with spacebar...
The problem is registered on camera:
So... My speaker felt on  my keyboard (on spacebar) and from this moment the problem occurs.
If I take the board out from the case, everything is ok, but if its in the case and I push that plastic frame, spacerbar wont work.
I was trying to correct solder  but it did nothing.
Should I just switch switch?
Can you help me please?

Kind regards
Jacek

Clearly there's some physical damage but I don't see any.  If the plate isn't bent I guess you somehow managed to bend the metal leaf in the switch, but how?  Or maybe you cracked a trace on the PCB and it bends slightly when you press...

I guess the warranty is gone so I would try soldering jumper wires to the swich first as it's easier than desoldering the switch to replace it.  Post a pic of the back if you need help with what needs to be soldered where :)

Hmm. I own solder sucker (dont know if its called like that  ;D ), so changing switch shouldnt be so hard. But if there is a chance to check if my switch is good I will try.
Ive put photo in attachment.
Thanks!

A black PCB with all the relevant traces on the other side, how helpful.

At least all the diodes look to be on the left pins so you could short the left pin of space to the right pin of random nearby switches using anything conductive (wire, scissors...) until it types a space then jumper from that pin to the right pin of space.  Or with helpful pic - short green to pink, when you get a space solder jumper from that green to red.

Or you could desolder the switch and open it up to see if the leaf looks mangled, though it probably wont as it nearly works properly.

When I did what you write (pink + green) - only the letter from the green pin worked.
Ive made next video. When I put my finger between pcb and that plastic plate the stwitch stopped working, but when I made bridge between pins it worked.

Did you notice the green on Alt?

The new video seems to say it is the switch but I still don't understand how it got damaged when there's a stabiliser on the key so you can't hit it sideways.  The joys of the real world...

Ok, so everything on pcb seems ok.
Probably I found the problem. One of the pins was cracked :D
Ive unsoldered the switch witch sucker. Ive put very little preassure to detach it. When I took it to my hand I noticed, that there is a lack of 1 pin haha :D It stayed in pcb :O I pulled it out with my hand. Photo included :)243146-0
