I doubt it would be a standard controller - the the traces on the membrane would be too different.

The internals may have been derived from a Model F design.

It looks very similar to a standard M controller - eg, this looks almost identical. Possibly the microcontroller programming is different, though.

Another thing that has occured to me - since it has Model F like construction, I wonder if it would sound more like a Model F than a Model M...

Touch typing is not a huge concern in POS applications. But yes, it would be a ***** to type on.
