Hello there, I found this keyboard on the street and it looks to be in working condition, it's by Compaq, what I wanted to know is, what kind of mechanical key switch is this? I've looked around and I can't find out.

Is it the exact same as a rubber dome keyboard?

It's probaly a little bit better to type on that a modern rubber dome, but it's a rubber dome nonetheless.

I threw a batch of these away a few months ago. It is horrible to type on. A Logitech Deluxe 250, for example, is waaay better than this abomination. Stiff and unresponsive == trash to me.

Ha, I was about to post a thread similar, trying to find out what tech was used in those.

Out of all the Rubber domes I have used over the years.. this model was by far and away the best.

Anyone know what model exactly it was ? Would like to see more on the switching tech.

** Sorry for reviving an old and dusty thread.

I have had a couple of those. I think I also had an NMB with the same ones.

Get an original Dell Quiet Key or an IBM KB8923 for good rubber domes.

Neither is particularly rare or pricey.
