I'd be in for some double-shot, blank caps.  Preferably black.

What benefit does one derive from blank double-shot keycaps?

For a second round, I'm thinking of getting creative with the fonts and colors.  Not so much as to be gaudy but enough to break the keyboard into segments.  That or maybe using a pattern to make an image across the whole keyboard.  Pointless, but interesting.

You laugh.  Deck sells/sold them.

Of course, I was joking.  I was trying to see if I could get an OCNer to go ape-**** over the idea.  Thanks for ruining it.

I got the test keys I ordered from Signature today.  Inside the package was a business card for Melissa, the nice lady who has been handling all our requests.

I'm pretty impressed with the feel of the keys.  They're a bit shorter than the stock Filco / Rosewill keys, and they sound a little more... low-pitched.  I rather like it

But it's not vaporware. Gearbox has a demo coming out shortly and a full game in 2011.

Gearbox isn't 3D Realms. They'll push the game out at "good" or better state. Not "OMG NEW TECHNOLOGY LET'S THROW OUT A MOSTLY DONE GAME FOR THE FIFTH TIME".

I hope anyone paying via credit/debit (not bank or PayPal balance) on Paypal is nice enough to absorb the dollar or so in fees for WhiteRice. I did, in any event.

Some geekhackers from Germany said there is no 'gift option'. Has it something to do with avoiding customs fees?

If not, how is that handled?

Paypal gives the option for the sender to pay the PayPal fees if it is a gift funded by debit/credit; if funded by bank account or PayPal balance, gift transactions have no fees whatsover.

If the gift option isn't available, the recipient bears the cost of fees.

As WhiteRice is doing this pretty much at cost, any fees would stack up quickly.

My fees on $104 were ~$4. It may be different if you are paying in an alternate currency.

You can Calculate this out.

For instance, one set of keycaps ($49) with an international booster ($10) and international shipping ($14) is $73.

If paid from Germany -> USA in DOLLARS, you would send $76.27 to get $73 across the border.

The advanced calculator indicates a Germany (EURO) to US (USD) payment sent to a personal account with a low sales volume would require the German sender to send €54.09 to get $73 USD to WhiteRice.
