Thanks for all the lovely comments about my eggplant.
Following further contemplation about this concept, I ultimately felt that the nicest thing about it is the lovely shade of eggplant purple, so I've decided to reduce the amount of green, and focused on white as accents for an overall cleaner look. Please see all the new renders in the first post, for a visualisation.
The green was divisive, and I wanted it to be less distracting, so I changed the base kit modifiers legends to be white only as well.
Although I did think the two coloured legends for Icon+text mods was nice, it meant it was either pad-printed, or I had to commit to a reverse dyesub manufacturer. The keycaps thus now look a bit less unique, but the caps are a bit more flexible in matching with keyboards, with a bit broader appeal.
The 3 colour modifers may return as a potential add-on option, but no guarantee on that.
I kept one green Esc novelty for a bit of fun.
I removed the sliced eggplant 1u novelties for navkeys.
I'm currently debating a typical base kit, with novelties and spacebars as separate kits, or just one big base kit: i.e.
Big Base Energy Kit[One big kit that covers 60%, 65%, 75%, TKL, with terminal ISO, F13, Tsangan support, and minimal compatibility for some 40s, Alice, split space and HHKB layouts. Spacebars and novelties are baked in.]
ORSimple Base KitComments
The Big Base Energy kit is just a proposal and might not be viable financially; being highly dependent on manufacturer quotes and what vendors believe is viable. I may just end up splitting the spacebars and novelties into individual kits like most typical keycap sets.
Personally I prefer an all-in-one base kit with additional spacebars and novelties included for the pure simplicity one SKU, and wide coverage, but that is not wallet-friendly with some manufacturers (i.e. GMK) in regards to their base kit pricing.
Thus, I'm still open to trialling alternative manufacturers, with new ones on the block; such as Wuque Studios or Keykobo or PBTFans that would lead to potentially faster production and a cheaper base kit too. Whether or not they can do 1 big base kit I don't know either, and I would perhaps have to cull accent white spacebars, white arrow keys, and/or bottom row novelties.
I'm agnostic towards PBT or ABS, and if I do go doubleshot legend, it would mean the green legends will likely by UV-printed.
I won't rule out dyesub, as the technology is getting better, and is a lot more affordable when it comes to kitting flexibility.
