HHKB Lite 2 keybounce
« on: Fri, 15 October 2010, 09:05:07 »
I'm noticing keybounce trouble with my HHKB Lite 2, mostly from the shift key, so I get THe and HEllo all the time.

Is this something endemic to these keyboards?  Do they use the same controller as the regular HHKBs do?  Do HHKBs have trouble like this?

THanks in advance

I wonder if "keybounce" is the right term for this symptom.  I don't think it is anymore.  Maybe it's just the break of the shift key is slower than I'm used to.  I do this on other keyboards, too.

Oh, and obligatory transposition test:

uiop
uiop
uiop

But when I type "if" or "it" it often ends up "fi" and "ti."  GO figure.

AFAIK, the lite uses particularly poor rubber domes.

And no, they don't have the same controller as the Pro. Capacitive keyboards have all sorts of magick going on in the controller.

They have a nestled hierarchy PCB matrix. So they actually have full NKRO i.e. redundancy all over the keyboard, just USB spec limited 6+4. Unfortunately, Topre seems to have dropped PS/2 support for most newer boards, which is a shame cause I'm sure there's some who would just like it to work directly with the CPU rather than be polled.

Can't really blame them as they are mostly a business/professional/enthusiast keyboard and they cut back on certain things. But who knows maybe in the future they will come out with some wish list keyboard, they did make a gaming specific keyboard so they probably like to dip their feet into it.

No keybounce EVAH! on a Topre capacitive.  Nature of the beast.

Sez so on the box too.....

And I thought it was talking about my wife and her friends!  (one of the advantages of over 20K posts is she will never find this one)
