I feel like I've been pretty flexible in terms of incorporating feedback, which yeah, I'm mostly gathering through Discord, since it's easier to chat with people in real time. It's also easier for SP to watch and chime in on themselves, since I'm working closely with them.
I am favoring some funky legends, just on personal preference, not so much to actively spite anyone. I love weird, retro, and vintage legends, and Wyse boards historically were chock full of those. It's part of the fun.
Since I'm splitting the words "Back Space" on the 2u and 1.75u keys, I chose to also split it on the 1.5u key so it'd match. I know that's not a super popular decision, but getting to choose stuff like that is part of the fun of designing a set! That's one thing I've been stubborn on; that I'd prefer to match the 1.5u Backspace to the other sizes, and I wanted all of them to be just ever so slightly weird.
I have incorporated changes that were practical - adding an additional 1.25u space key to the 40s kit, etc. I'm just trying to draw a line *somewhere* with more eclectic requests that I just don't think will be commercially viable. Like stepped R4 mods, 9.75u spacebars, LED windowed keys - those are all super cool and I'd add them if I could. But I also have a relationship with SP where they've already run one of my designs, are prepping to run this one, and will hopefully let me make more for them down the line. I don't want to be pushing stuff that just won't sell enough, and will wind up costing them money and sitting on shelves.
SMRT, as it stands today, is what I like. That's really all I can do, design for what I think looks neat and feels fun. If I strip out everything unique about it, it's just another grey-beige set. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. I'm hoping a lot of you will also think it's worth getting. But also, this is a historical colorway no one owns, and any of y'all can try to run keys to fit it. The stock color codes are right there. Make an extension kit with the stuff I left out, or an alternate Backspace key. I might even buy it myself.
I resent attempts to bully me into not running this set, but I've never attempted to discourage anyone from buying any other Wyse-themed set myself. On the contrary, you can see in the other thread that I've wished it good luck, and encouraged people to buy it. I think that speaks for itself.
