Hey Geekhack community!

I’m Byron,a keyboard designer and maker from China. I’ve been deep into the hobby for three years, focusing on ergonomic layouts and tactile typing experiences — my current passion project is an Alice-style tented keyboard kit (CNC aluminum case, solder PCB, with angle-adjustable feet).
I just finished producing my first small batch of 100 units (prototyping took 6 months with 5 revisions!). While tuning the tenting angle, I struggled to balance wrist comfort and case stability — would love to hear your thoughts if you’ve designed tented boards before!
Excited to learn from all the brilliant minds here. I’ll be active in the Alice Keyboard Club and Build Logs sections. Feel free to ask me about CNC machining or factory negotiations in China (spoiler: it’s a wild ride 😅).
Cheers!
Byron

Welcome Byron!

Great you have become a member of this community...
It seems this forum became much less talkative and welcoming (520 views, but no one is welcoming you? WTF!) since my last visit 10 years ago (went MIA).
Your project sounds very interesting. Are you willing to share some images? It is hard to give feedback without pictures of the keyboard. Enjoy your wild ride!

Looks great... I really like the sharp lines and the pogo-pin connectors!

Sure...

A good start are topics like:

What did you do today?
What do you eat?
What are you listening to right now?
Games you are most looking forward to
Post Your Desktop

Positive side-effect of these is that others get to know you better...

Hello from Australia!

Hi Byron, I want to reach out to as many people around the world regarding keyboards to ask them what the Keyboard scene is like in their country.

China is a great place for Keyboard designers as most of the factories and CNC shops are based there. Have you had any experience with any of them?

I hope you can share your stories with me and I will like to share mine with you.
Appreciate your reply.

Happy clacking
FR

Hello, I'd be happy to complete your survey. I also collaborate with domestic processing plants, so I believe I'm well-suited to fill out your questionnaire. Feel free to send it to me anytime, and I'll get back to you upon receipt.
