Hello，everyone，this is Kezewa，and it is the first time we post an IC here. I will introduce a very exquisite 40-layout keyboard ，HX40. It's from a very famous designer，Niuniu，in China. Niuniu is an expert at small-layout keyboard，so I hope you will enjoy it.
The inspiration
Specification
In terms of the structure, we have adopted top-mount with silicone gaskets. Unlike traditional top cases that directly contact the plates, the use of gaskets significantly reduces resonance while retaining the consistent typing feeling. We made slots on the bottom case to align with the components on the PCB, allowing the bottom case to be closer to the PCB. As a result, the HX-40 delivers a satisfying typing experience and “HIFI” sound even without foams .
The overall structure consists of a top case, bottom case, and a weight. The top and bottom cases are secured using an internal oblique locking way, which not only enhances aesthetics but also ensures unobstructed switch installation and changing.The PCB uses a magnetic daughterboard connection. Learning from other magnetic solutions in the market, we have replaced the flexible cable with a rigid daughterboard. This greatly enhances the stability of the magnetic connection, eliminating concerns about the cable detachment. Both the magnetic daughterboard and the battery（if you purchase the dual or tri-mode edition） are pre-installed and tested before shipment, making the assembly process more convenient for you.
Additionally, for the first time, we are launching a EC version, which shares the same layout as the MX PCB. After consulting with some experts in the EC keyboard field, we have adopted a highly cost-effective model. It utilizes the base, conical spring, and push rod from the premium brand Niz, along with a rubber dome custom-molded by renowned domestic enthusiast Metakeebs. The default force is 30g, and the stabilizers are standard plate-mounted stabilizers.
Excluding the stabilizers (which you need to prepare yourself), the entire set of components costs only 30USD, allowing you to experience your first 40% EC keyboard at an amazing price.
Furthermore, this design incorporates a stainless steel plate. By tapping threads directly into the stainless steel plate and using M2*8 long screws fastened from the back of the PCB, we eliminate the need for traditional screw posts used in EC keyboard. This significantly reduces the assembly difficulty, making it easier for more users to build the keyboard themselves without requiring professional assembly services.
