Hello everyone, this is Unikeys. We are bringing you a scrouplously crafted wristrest and screw tray designed by Novaris Studio.

It’s been three months since the last IC post about the wrist rest.
During this time, I’ve been in communication with the factory (and thanks to the feedback from the community!) to make a few adjustments to the design of both the wrist rest and the screw tray.
We’ve ensured that the refinements improve manufacturability without compromising aesthetics, and we’ve completed the first batch of prototypes.

We also re-rendered the visuals using the latest models, so everyone can better visualize what the finished product will look like.

Color Confirmation

In the previous IC post, we confirmed three basic anodized colors to express the restrained aesthetics of Ando’s architectural style:
Anodized Silver, Mineral Gray, and Eternal Black.

After discussions and survey results within the community, we’ve also decided to add two painted colors that received the most support:
Cement Gray and Muted Pink.
(Final colors will depend on the factory’s paint sample results.)

Cross Material Options:
Two finishes will be available: Silver Mirror PVD and Black Mirror PVD.

Design Changes

Front logo removed – to maintain a clean, unified look without visual distractions.

Back side – logo and engraved cross added; footpad design adjusted.

Length adjustment: finalized at 350mm (35cm)

This ensures the wrist rest doesn’t exceed the keyboard length and maintains visual balance on the desk setup.

Compatible with most 80% keyboards.

Dimensions:

Length: 350mm

Width: 90mm

Front height: 8.5mm

Rear height: 18mm

Slope: approx. 6°

Church module cross cutout removed – due to machining difficulty, replaced with a recessed groove.

Optional flat acrylic cover – since the acrylic cross section might slightly affect typing feel (though minimal), a non-grooved acrylic cover option will be available.

Interaction & User Experience

1. Modular Assembly

The main shell, church module, and cross light components can be independently disassembled and customized.

Silicone bumpers will be included to prevent direct contact or scratching with the keyboard.

2. Functional Adaptability

The church module includes a strong magnet at the bottom.
It can be used within the wrist rest, as a small desktop ornament, or even as a creative fridge magnet.

“Cross Water” Screw Tray

Previously teased in the “Pixie Meadow” keycap IC post, the screw tray now gets its own detailed introduction.

1. Design Concept:
The idea was to complement the wrist rest theme — incorporating the cross motif while retaining functionality.
The design was inspired by Tadao Ando’s “Church on the Water,” hence the name “Cross Water Sequence.”

2. Representation of Water:
Depicted through wave-like CNC patterns on metal surfaces (final design subject to actual samples).

3. Color Confirmation:
Same anodized colors as the wrist rest — black, silver, gray.
(Community rumors that there would be only one color are incorrect. Whether painted colors will be added is still under consideration.)

4. Functionality:
Serves as a display piece, storage tray, and decorative item all in one.

5. Non-cross Version:
For users who don’t need the cross or prefer a simpler design, a cross-free version of the screw tray will also be available.

Prototype Progress

1. Wrist Rest:

The first batch has been anodized.

Some minor tool marks were found (barely visible to the eye), so five new sets were remade for re-anodizing next week.

Photos show: Anodized Silver, Anodized Black, and Anodized Gray
(Gray will be darkened slightly in the next batch, as it’s currently too close to silver.)

Acrylic Cover:
Corner radii have been adjusted to make removal easier — now undergoing second-round prototyping.

2. Screw Tray:

First batch will be anodized together with the second batch of wrist rests.

Current samples are unpolished and lack the final weighted design—just rough previews for general appearance.

3. Packaging Design:

First prototype received; some details still under refinement.
