Keep telling yourself that.  In the mean time, rich people and companies lobby.  Much more effective than voting.

The 17th amendment was supported, in large part, by special interests and lobbyists.

Because senators are elected by state-wide popular vote, campaign money is the biggest swayer of these elections.  If senators were appointed by the state legislatures (as the constitution originally intended), the lobbyists would have very little influence.

I still believe that all lobbyists should be shot, and if you decide to work in politics, unless your ex-communicated your in politics for life. That means these "senators" cannot be senators and then decide to work for the lobbyists or their supported companys cuz we know they aren't really working for them afterwards it's just another way that the lobbyists get their way, they can't "pay" the senators but they can say "pass this legislation through and if it passes, you can have a "J . o . b " with us lol how does sitting on your arse and talking to your old collegues once in a while for a few million sound?"

oh and politicians should be capped, why are you allowed to make money working for the government? working for the government means you should working for the ppl, in essence your a servant to the ppl, i don't remember butlers making mad bank in that respect.

anyway shoot all lobbyists in the head and i bet you we won't have stupid health care costs, farming subsidies, and government contracts where we sell our weapons to potential enemies, why sell our super weapons of destruction?

What started out to be a nice pleasant drive in the country turned into the "Afternoon from Hell."  First of all, when Marta and I were leaving, the cats looked at us like, "Where are you going?"  Then, when we were driving, we had to stop and get gas. So right there that's time taken away from looking at the scenery.  Then, when we get home, guess what the cats are doing? Sleeping! Man, what next?

I use a slave computer; proxy, firewall, overkill-scanning, packet filters, DMZ, IP masquerade, etc ... it's basically useless for anything else other than being burdened by the collective hits on performance that would otherwise affect the computers I actually use; a nice big somewhat anonymous and unexcitingly bland security wall to show the internet. A little bandwidth bottleneck exists but is (I feel) tolerably minimal in view of the disease-free happily unimpacted computing eden behind the wall.

Where can I get some of these voodoo skull keys?

Actually I do run an FTP host so I can access my software archive on the move. But it's not on google so that alone makes it 99.99% resistant to hackers, or perhaps more accurately, 100% resistant to 99.99% of the hackers; it wouldn't really slow a pro who targets me for whatever reason. True, my stuff isn't interesting enough to be a target, but it's a fixed IP (subject to discovery by smart IP scanners) so I figure it doesn't hurt to make it as difficult and time-consuming as possible for 733t h4x0rz, last thing I want is to discover I'm suddenly running a chatroom full of stupid children. (Yeah, I said stupid, Rip. Yo momma's so fat she's on both sides of the family.)

It's more "just 'cuz I can" and a good experimenting/learning application so I know how to do stuff. It lets me always have a dependable bastion of content so I can feel warm and secure and needn't ever worry about the whimsical shifting (un)availability of things pulled from the cloud. Computers and storage are cheap, and local equipment is never subject to digital weather effects which choke bandwidth.

I think I was finally able to rid my computer of this virus, well... it may not have been my computer at all!!!!
Believe it or not it was the ROUTER that was infected with this redirect virus!!! And perhaps this was initially from another computer altogether and we found it on that computer!

Here is a list of just some of the anti-whatever programs I ran to fix it-
Microsoft security essentials
Malwarebytes
Avira
Avast
Spybot
Hitman Pro
Combofix
... and none of them worked!

What did work was resetting my router and that was it!!!!

The nice benefit of running all of those programs though is that my compy is back to being silly fast and geekhack works again!!!!!!WooooHOOOOOOO!!! I really hope that continues, I really do!

So maybe some of that info will be of some help. I don't know how to do some of that stuff so I had my friend come over and help with what I identified. I really hope people understand how awful this stuff can be for people who are not high end computer savy. I even had to miss a full day of work to get this problem solved!
=S

PBS is un-American? I knew there was a reason PBS was by far my favourite American network.

It's a pity funding cuts killed PBS. Television is dead. It went downhill in the 80's and died in the 90's.

Don't Stop Believing dude.  Most critics think this is the 2nd Golden Age of TV but it's all on Cable.

Most critics are idiots then. Everything I've seen is absolute garbage. The BBC still occasionally does some good stuff, but even they have started using that extremely annoying modern shaky spastic camerawork with hyper-fast edits. It's hard to even find documentaries without this kind of force-fed cram-in-your-face direction. You used to be able to actually look at an image for a few seconds and you had a choice of where in the image to look. Now, they slam something in your face, shaky and in close focus, rip it away and cram something else there. I can't stand that "speed up and slow down" movement that is in absolutely everything now.

Even if I could ignore that, scripts are filled with stupid modern expressions and actors use annoying, predictable, fake mannerisms. Even British actors aren't as good as they used to be.

sooooo... I guess my computer is ok now... I think.

But it indeed does seem like it was a coincidence that geekhack ran well after all that virus was cleared out. Becuase geekhack still has bouts of just not working at all for me =(

It seems ok-ish right now so here I go crossing my fingers it will last long enough for me to reply to some stuff...

So todays rant... I hate coincidences!

Edit:
I noticed something interesting...
The  longer I stay on a particular page, post, reply...etc. the higher the likelihood of geekhack stalling on me when I actually do something.

Today's rant: banks and the bailout.

So I'm getting pre-approved for a mortgage and I got a whole bunch of estimates from Wells Fargo - one of the banks we bailed out. The estimates were for different house prices, yet had different closing costs and most of the numbers changed wildly across them. Nothing added up and you couldn't figure out how they even got to these numbers. Needless to say, I think it's clear that theses banks we bailed out are still out to screw people. And why aren't we doing anything about it? They obviously haven't learned anything from their unethical practices. We should've let them burn.

And btw, I definitely will NOT be doing business with Wells Fargo.

Wall Street and Banks run capitalist systems. Get over it and stop whining.

So what, they can be capitalist and ethical. And if they're not ethical and get themselves in trouble then we shouldn't bail them out. But since you're a [strike]slum[/strike] land lord, I'm sure you're already familiar with capitalism and ethics.

I'm not surprised that it's happening. I'm saying that it's not right and it shouldn't happen. I think it would happen less if we didn't bail them out.
