Yet another lurker here... Looks like as good of a place as any to make my first post... :P Personally, I'd rather have all the keys the same color, and then a booster pack for an alternate color for modifier keys if people want them... I just don't care for these two-tone setups.

If somebody wants a very bright colour scheme combination you always can think in Green Keys like on this Topre or maybe Yellow too:

Lavender like the Filco set or Red are too common I think. Anyway what about Blue and not Lavender or we just can think about Bright Pink LOL

here i saw some nice ideas for colours: http://www.synctronics.com/case_studies.html

PD: I'm new at GEEKHACK and since I started reading here I'm only thinking on getting new keycaps and keyboards -.- (Where can ? say welcome to all? Is there an exclusive thread or something like that?)

I'd totally be in for a bright pink set... :P I wouldn't mind seeing a black key, with pink, bright green, or bright blue lettering.

Not interested. If I can't get Swedish legends, then that would be no different to me from having a "otaku" keyboard without legends.
... And I have already got a real Dolch.

I might be interested in coloured "otaku"/legendless keycaps though.

This might be something to consider... Depending on the color, I'd certainly be interested.

I wondering if it won't be possible to get a 50+ person consensus on a wild colored set. Would everyone prefer just a black set of double-shots with some extra keys?

I think I would prefer a Black set more so. Black on Black like the Ducky keycaps, with some colors for certain keys.

Someone suggested before Keycaps matching the colour scheme from the HHKB 2 so it's actually similar to this you suggest. I think it's cool but anyway I don't find a reason for going with only Black on Black it must look boring, we need some colour in there on a few keys.

Anybody thought about a white double shot GEEK HACK? we can think about getting this key in all the colour availables to match every user taste so anybody can change when getting bored about the red one for example, you put a yellow one, a white one, bright blue ...look at this:

And this pic makes me crazy, I love those colours :

Or what about a bone colour selection of keycaps like on this one:

It should look great with the black colour of some keyboards like they HHKB 2 from chongyixiong:

But actually the HHKB 2 it's more like dark grey than black mmm I'm not sure about the perfect match with a black one.

Black on black works for the ducky because they're pad printed. I don't think you'd be able to distinguish black-on-black double-shots from completely blank keys. I guess you could do dark gray on black or vice versa. I like the look of bone with the gray frame, but I don't think it would look as good with black.

Doing a group order of blanks might be another idea. It would be a lot cheaper and everyone might be able to customize their own sets.

I'd love a set of 104-ish DOLCH color that would be profiled correctly for the mx-11900.  I took the set off my actual DOLCH board, and they're far too loose for the stems of the later brown cherry switches.  My escape key shoots off like a Pog whenever I hit it off-center.

That's actually really sharp looking. Ok, so maybe you'd want to stick to just one color, but why must every keyboard be limited to white or black lettering?

This.
I already bought a set from the first round, but I'd seriously consider buying another if it included the keys to fit an ISO mx-11800.
IIRC, that would require different modkeys (Rshift, R/Lctrl, R/Lalt) plus spacebar, not counting the ISO differences (extra key, enter, Lshift).

Also, as it has been mentioned, a blank set would be pretty cool, preferably colored like the white/grey HHKB set.
A crazy idea would be to double-shoot just some of the keys, a blank keyboard w/ just the modkeys labeled, or enter, or esc or whatever.
Just thinking aloud...

If the entire set was blank then the international booster keys wouldn't stand out. Throw in a geekhack key and something like a novelty meta key... I'd be in. Having said that, it doesn't have to be this time, I'm sure that there will be a geekhack otaku set at some point so I can wait.

I like the pink, personally, but I can see how it might have limited appeal. I think the blue looks good too, and I imagine more people would be up for that than the pink. I'm not a huge fan of the green, but it came up earlier in the thread, so I figured I'd do a quick mock-up while I was at it.

I'm actually digging the blue legends on black, and it'll be a good match with everyone's black cases. Is there broad acceptance of that color scheme? I actually kinda like the pink-on-black too, but I expect that it's less popular.

I know green-screen was mentioned earlier, but I don't think the effect will quite be there without an old-skool monospace font, which we probably can't get.

I know there are people that really want a dolch set which is weighing into this, but I don't want to give it up until I know what the final plans for this are.

The keyboard grows increasingly pimpish throughout the evening. Purple to blue fade:

Probably the selection of colors wouldn't allow more than 3-4 steps (if that), so I wouldn't want to go through more of the spectrum than that or the steps would be jarring.

I like blue on black.

What were the prices like with the last set?

I might get these and put them on the  U9-S or U9W prototypes, unless there'd be incompatibility. My main beef with their keys is that they're lasered and you can feel the legends very easily.

Ok, I'm measuring the LEFT SHIFT key. The plastic inserts, the measurement of the inside and outside of the holes for the bar.

Outside: 0.95mm +/-.1mm
Inside: 0.91mm +/-.1mm

The outside measure between the false stems where the stabilizers go in:
1.15mm +/-.05 (less flexible, so less margin of error)

Someone with a Filco and a caliper, see what numbers you get.

I say we brainstorm a bunch of layouts, mock them up, run a survey, and have people rank the layouts in order of preference. Rank whatever layouts you would buy (so if you only would buy one of them, you'd only rank one; if you like them all to varying degrees, you rank all of them, etc.)

Then, using the CSV you can just do simple math on the table. 1st rank gets 7 points, 2nd rank gets 6, etc. (something like that). Whatever gets the most points wins.

Or maybe we can come to a consensus in the thread. We agreed on Dolch pretty quickly on the last one.
