how to fix a g15 circuit
« on: Tue, 11 January 2011, 17:36:49 »
Hi!
Due to my clumsyness I recently spilled a cup of milk on my beloved g15 (the newer one with orange backlight) and due to my stupidity, the liquid managed to partly destroy one of the conductive lines on the plastic layers inside.  I attempted to fix it with a CircuitWriter and just made matters worse, since the damage is in a tight spot at the bottom where 4 lines run parallel to each other and CW is incapable of making properly thin lines. I am so not ready to toss the keyboard because I love it and I don't want to spend the $$$ for another one. So now my plan is to buy a sheet of transparent plastic and attempt to redraw the damaged region with CW, glue the plastic on top of the damaged layer and connect the endpoints from the new plastic to the old with the same CW.
Since I have no previous knowledge of this stuff, before I kill the thing even more, I wanted to ask you, people who might have far better expertise, if this can work and how should I approach this in the most efficient manner. I can post pics of my total fail tomorrow.

That kitty would be happy sitting on a new Leopard.  I mean Leopold.
Lovely day for a GUINNESS
