Keyboard trouble shooting!
« on: Tue, 18 January 2011, 16:38:57 »
Okay so I'm fidgetting around my friend's netbook and noticed that BOTH ctrl keys are not functioning! As expected these are chiclet keys on a samsung nf210 and my google-fu is coming short in finding a solution.

I tried to check most of the software related suspects such as accessibility functions (sticky/function keys etc) and keyboard settings and drivers and couldn't find anything suspicious.

so now my suspicion is on hardware side of things, from the physical keys itself malfunctioning or the circuitry of things. However before going to the shop or warrantying it, it'd be best to fix things ourseleves if possible before doing so.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but since this is a keyboard enthusiast forums, thought i'd ask here. thanks!
Current Keyboard: Filco Majestouch 104 Browns (FKBN104M/EB)

Current Mice: Steelseries Xai (1400cc//800cc) on Steelseries 9HD.

Anyone want to donate me a keycap remover? <3

I'd boot into a different OS and see if they work there. If they do, it's definitely software.
But then I have an Ubuntu live distro on a flash drive ready to go, so it would only take 2 minutes.
