gaming impressions on mechanical keyboard [brown cherry]

maybe you prolly get boring about seeing another topic of gaming
but i came in peace and intend to share my first impressions as gamer

i intentionnaly avoid questions bout choosing switches since i have only tried brown ones

well, first of all,

i am in accord with anyone for typing, it sounds trully good to me, you gonna love it
well, on the opposite of what i often heard,
mechanical keyboard doesnt give you an extra stuff in comparison of rubber keyboard
it s actually more smooth and conformtable
tactile is an heresy for fps, you cant feel right
each movement should be repeat constantly and recognized through pressing keys

that aint an huge drawback, however, for anyone who play decent in fps, movements and aiming cant be dissociate, moving with mechanical is not smooth as expected
it has an noticeable effect on aiming which is very important

for conclude, although what i wrote, i finally keep my mech keyboard since i am not an huge gamer and do not participate at any competition and it feels pretty awesome when i m typing on it

My first mech keyboard was a Filco tenkeyless Otaku brown.  Same thing happened to me when I first play L4D with it.  Went out and got another one (same Filco tenkeyless) with black switches and problem solved. =P


For me.. brown for typing and black for when I game.

i've used my cherry mx brown ducky for rts starcraft 2, fps  counter strike, modernwarfare 2, black ops etc.


Works just fine no problem.

yeah as i said, it works fine for anyone who cares about real performances in fps which means, using right movements precisely while aiming

maybe try to circle-straffing and aiming with cherry brown, i bet you gonna find abit unusual and not that conformtable as you wished it

many people including me ask if mechanical would be suitable for gaming
often given answers eventuate to look like same without explaning exactly what each cherry switch does and feels in game

fps game with brown cherry? yes and no
it works pretty fine for certains games
i think you r be right it must be great for COD serie
but it also sucks awful for anothers (quake, left 4 dead...)
ultimately, tactile keys is displeasing if you are a type of player who d rather move fast

and actually it more bothered to me then i tought
head shooting while avoiding hordes for exemple was quite hard, i did miss a load of bullet

Technically, I don't see how using a mechanical switch compared to a rubber dome would alter performance. A rubber dome performs similar to a mechanical switch - some height of resistance followed by a sharp drop, with actuation somewhere along the way.

In that respect, I expect linear switches to feel different from people used to rubber domes.

i think you just have to get used to it.. as i was able to game just fine with it

but with that said, that's why they say cherry blacks are for more gaming, they're just not comfortable to type on (the common consensus)

I'd say that if you're using rubber domes right now, switching to a clicky keyboard will be more seamless than to a linear one.

I just checked Newegg Black Widow reviews (I trust them more than Amazon).  Everybody loves the Cherry Blues for gaming.  It's only  Geekhackers and OCN'rs that seem to be having a problem.  I think the psychological condition is technically called "Sympathetic Hysteresis Hysteria".

hi-end pro fps should be blacks/reds not browns. Browns are better than blues of course in terms of fps, but the top 1% of the super fps ppl should get blacks/reds.

i play BFBC2 with blues and i am very satisfied. anyway its a very personal thing.

I do play a lot of games. In fact I'm always playing First Person Shooter games like Counter Strike, Counter Strike: Source, Counter Strike Promod, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source and in in the other hand I play a lot of RPG games like Drakensang, Dragon Age Origins and when we talk about RTS I play Starcraft 2.

Well going to the point: I played over a year with my Steelseries 7G with MX black switches then I changed to Topre on my Realforce 91 UBY and now I have the Noppoo Choc Mini with MX Brown Switches.

For me :
1. Topre 45g and MX Brown ( Starting to play with Brown these days)
2. MX Black

Black make my fingers get tired after a while. They're pretty good but seriously they're not the best switch for gaming like everybody says, at least not for me. Black switches are better than rubber domes ofc but not than MX Brown and definetely not better than Topre on my own preferences.

Today my Steelseries 7G have a new owner and I'm happy with the Topre and MX Brown.

It's a matter of being used to the Switch.

These things are, of course, a matter of personal preference and here I have to disagree. I am what you could call a hardcore gamer (playing 4+ hours pretty much every day) and I don't have any issue gaming on a Filco Majestouch with browns. I am not entirely sure what you are trying to say though. The sentence "each movement should be repeat constantly and recognized through pressing keys" makes it sound as if the keyboard doesn't recognize quickly repeated keypresses, is this what you mean? If this is the case, you have some kind of a fault with your keyboard, because I have no such issue when playing Starcraft 2 (a game where the same keys are often pressed many times in quick succession), for example.

I've played many hours of FPS and RTS gaming and have not had any problems at all.

that aint really true
i didnt buy keyboard for being more skilled
however it improves confort
updating mice might improve aiming also if you play fps that needs very fast precision
a ton of cs players use crap stuff because game doesnt require such decent equipment

i am also an ex player of game such quake, ut and an accurate mice and conformtable keyboard might help you alot

Honestly, it is just a matter of getting use to it. From what it sounds like, you are too use to holding the key at the bottom'd out state, and then just barely lifting to make small adjustments. I don't think there is a mechanical keyboard that will work at the bottom out point, so you'll have to learn to use a raised actuation point or go back to a rubberdome.

I personal love gaming on Cherry Blues.

Right, I have a rubber dome although the travel distance is a bit lower (I think) since it's a low profile, I always lift the key up before I press back down.
