For some reason the black Alps on my new AT101W remind me a lot of MX blacks. Am I crazy?

Stock black ALPS or lubed? In case of the former, I'd have to go for "crazy", sorry. ;) At least I cannot see too many parallels between a pretty rough tactile switch and a smooooth linear one.

Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

They sort of feel linear, the tactile leaf isn't particularly distinct on them.

Say what? Alps are notorious for VERY hard bottom outs (unless you use dampened sliders). Provides most of the tactile feedback on an Alps board, at least for me.

Typing on some black ALPS for the first time today on a AT102W which turned up in the post today, not sure if I like them or not yet, maybe a touch heavy for my liking.

This board was extremely well used. The QWERTY cluster is nearly linear, but the numpad and editing block are much less so, and I can feel the double bump.
