I have noticed the frequency of these seems to be going from a 1 week gap in between listings to a 2 week gap.  Perhaps supply is finally running low?

btw, they're awesome keyboards- I am typing this on one right now.

Or maybe the seller is doing that on purpose just to make you think the supply is nearing the end so better get one at any price.

That's completely absurd. Why would anyone pay that much for one of these? I mean, I get the attraction, but not to the extent that these people clearly do.

Over 5 times what a similar vintage and condition full size goes for? That's just nuts.

Well, I'm the dummy that paid $355 for it. I guess my rationale is that you only live once so go for it.

I don't know why but I suddenly have an obsession with the spacesaver model Ms. I have used model Ms since the 1980s but have never actively sought out spacesavers until a month ago. It probably started when I saw Ripster's thread on the IBM Model M Space Saving club.

I had thought about spending the money on a realforce instead of the Model M mini but in the end, the pull for the Mini was too great and since they are no longer manufactured, there may not be another opportunity to get a NIB.

Also, since I never touched a Realforce before, I am not sure if I would like them compared to a BS type keyboard. I guess I have to start selling off my stash of full sized model Ms to offset the cost.

This hobby is expensive.

In romanized Japanese, it's "omedetou" for Congratulations.  Usually the Japanese will use "ome~" for Congrats.

Heh.

Just a year ago these keyboards went NIB for about $100 a piece.
And when I got mine for $170 I thought I was doing a mistake.

I wonder how much they will go for in a year from now?.

I seriously doubt that will happen.  Even today you can still buy a computer with a PS/2 port that will work just fine with a 27-year-old IBM PC/AT keyboard, provided you have an adapter to change from the large 5-pin DIN connector to a PS/2 connector.  And if your computer doesn't have a PS/2 port on it, a Blue Cube or other PS/2 to USB adapter should allow it to work.  USB isn't going away tomorrow, and even if a replacement was announced, the huge installed base will mean it'll be around for many years to come, and when it does finally disappear, there will be a whole slew of USB to whatever adapters available for everyone wanting to run legacy USB stuff on their latest computer.

In other words, I don't worry for a single second about my PS/2 or AT keyboards ever being obsolete electronics-wise.  If the time ever does come where the technology is being replaced, I'll simply buy enough of whatever adapters there are to convert the old technology to the new, so that I have one adapter per each keyboard I own.
