I bought a realforce 103ub 55g about two weeks ago, so far it's been smooth sailing and I been enjoying the board very much.

Today I had a weird problem which I'm not sure if it's OS or hardware related, but I never ran into this prob with any other board in the same setup during 4 years of usage.

I was coding, and suddenly the keyboard acted as if the space-bar is stuck, printing out spaces. When I tried to push numlock or capslock the indicator lights were not responding to my key presses. I tried to press/depress the spacebar but it wasn't responding to that either. Eventually I had to unplug and re-plug the kb's USB to solve the issue.

Anyone else ran into a similar problem or might know what could have caused this problem?

Sounds faulty. Warranty should cover that.

Yes, happened to me once and I heard the same thing from another GHer. What you did solved the issue for us as well. Only had it once and haven't had it since.

I had the numpad 4 key get stuck on me last night. I actually had to reboot the computer to get rid of it.

Though, I was playing with the teensy at the time, so that might have been the actual cause.

It was actually kind of fun for a while, as when I turned off numlock, the end result was everything came out typed backwards.

Seriously though, I have a bad feeling this will be blown way out of proportion. Every noob "what keyboard should I buy" thread will have the OP saying, "but I herd Toprays repeet lettrz!"

I never said it was a realforce, for me. In fact, I explicitly blamed playing with the teensy.

Also, while 3 is technically "various", and PEBKAC is insulting, I do agree that it is unlikely the fault of the keyboard itself. Nor is it the fault of the user. The fact is, XP is old. Most XP installations are old. Old things, especially old software installations, do really weird things sometimes.

So no, not PEBKAC, but also not the keyboard.

I'm pretty sure Keyboardlover was refering to an RF board, therefor various.
Assuming  that a problem is software related is always an easy way out but like I said this system has been running for 4 years with the same hardware and software configuration and never had any similar problems. I'm a software engineer, not a ****ing noob.

I noticed the problem with both a 55g Realforce and a variable Realforce. It only happened once per board, I did what you did and it went away. No biggie. Realforce is still the shizzle my nizzle ;)

Also for me it happened on Win 7 64 bit both times. So it's not specific to Win xp 32 bit.

I hope this problem doesn't happen again, because getting warranty service for such a rare occurring problem is not gonna be easy.

Despite this issue, it's still the best board for me too so far, I love typing and gaming on it.

You really don't have to be rude about it. How many times have you seen a mouse get it's buttons reversed in windows?

USB keyboards are polled. If that polling fails momentarily, the break code is missed. Windows doesn't like that. The key basically gets stuck. It's quite possible you had your machine tied up too much, and just so happened to hit it during a context switch.

These things happen. ****ing noob or not. Rude or not.

Odd, it happened all the time in early version of XP. Quite frequently, in fact, especially on enterprise systems. SP2 fixed it for the most part, but it still happens occasionally.

And that is why I never use new windows at the very least until SP1 is out, usually a few months after that so I can hope they fixed all the serious issues caused by SP1.

Wow.. I've had my Realforce for 2 days and have already experienced this exact same problem!  Had to unplug it to reset.  However, was using Win7 64bit.

Strange.  Wouldn't expect this from a $250+ keyboard on day 2.   But whatever... what a fantastic keyboard!  As long as it doesn't happen again, and again.

Yea like I said, with the people who have reported it it's only happened once and never again and is not OS-specific. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Maybe it's just from the burn in process? Like when you get a CPU, the first few days are sometimes a bit...wonky. Then after using it for a while, everything is fine. Maybe the EEPROMs in the Realforce got programmed, but not really well used prior to sending it out.

Given that it seems to happen a single time, near the beginning of ownership, I'm sort of thinking this might actually be the case.

I've had my 86u for about 6 months now and this issue has occurred twice. The first time happened on my laptop running windows 7 and close to when I first purchased it. The second time occurred after 5 months of steady use on a Windows XP work computer. Both problems were solved by unplugging the usb cord and plugging it back in.

I had a similar thing happen thrice now.

Last week, I got stuck repeating "jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj" during some furious keyboard shortcutting (j/k - up/down, x - mark emails) in Firefox.

Pressing and repressing keys didn't seem to help, so I ended up unplugging my cheapo USB hub (that my keyboard and two other mice were plugged into) to "unstick" it.

It seems to occur pretty rarely (once every few months?), but I don't recall ever running into this issue with other keyboards I've used with the Macbook.
