My tenkeyless brown came today. Thank you for helping me.

Thanks for your input in my older thread where I asked how filco browns compare to logitech perfectstroke switches like in my logitech illuminated keyboard. (I had to replace it with a tenkeyless board because I was starting to get a lot of pain in my mouse hand from reaching so far over to the right. I bought an enermax tenkeyless board because I heard it was similar to the logitech board, but it was really awful.) It really did help me make up my mind.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this board. It feels solid. It registers every keystroke unlike that awful enermax aurora board. I'm not sure if it's better than my logitech illuminated board, but it is definitely at least as good. I'm glad some of you warned me that brown switches are not quiet. Even though it didn't end up affecting my decision, I think I would have been disappointed if I had expected them to be quiet. They are quite loud. I can't even imagine how loud the blue ones are since the browns are often called quiet on these boards by comparison.

It seems like I'll have to get used to this board over the next few weeks. I'm very used to keys not registering until they are almost bottomed out. I've gotten so used to that that I'm having trouble typing double letters since I'm used to only bringing the key up half way before typing the next letter. I'm having the same trouble with shift because I have only released it half way by the time I type a lower case letter right after a capital letter and I end up typing two capital letters.

I'll let you know how I feel about it in a few weeks.

Can anyone recommend a wrist pad that is the right length for the filco tenkeyless that is  less than $15?

Can I ask where you purchased it and how much it was for the board+shipping? A tenkeyless brown is exactly when I want too.

I'm from the US, assuming you are too?

I bought it from another poster in the classified section of this site.

I just posted this Leopold/Archiss.

It's branded I-Touch but it's the same thing.

Double check that it's Cherry Brown before ordering.

I think it's mx black. Here's the same product code on another site:

Listed as linear action.

@dp88: Congrats on your brown mech keyboard. I am also using brown and I like it a lot.

Your fingers will learn how not to bottom out and press with just enough force in a week. From then on your fingers can dance on the keyboard while typing. It's a sexy feeling.

Make sure your wrist can relax while typing so that you can type for a long time.
Keyboard: Filco MJ1 104 brown, Filco MJ2 87 brown, Compaq MX11800, Noppoo Choc Brown/Blue/Red, IBM Model M 1996, CMStorm Quickfire Rapid Black

I don't remember where exactly I got my wrist rest, but it was only $3~4 and I just cut off the excess :)

Actually, I think the browns are louder than the blues.  The blues have a definite higher pitch and very audible click click click.  The browns have a loud thwack thwack thwack.  The blues just seem louder because it's a much higher pitched click click click.  The spacebar on my browns sets of my MIC when playing games a lot more often then the spacebar on the blues.

Either way, I think they're both great switches with their own distinctness, and the only bad choice would be buying blacks.  ;)

@dp88,

Congrats on your purchase!  I know I absolutely love my cherry brown Filco tenkeyless.  Major upgrade from the wireless Logitech keyboard I had been using earlier.

Like yourself I'm still adjusting to the actuation point of the keyboard.  But I find it to be a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience to both type and play SC2 with it.

Good luck and have fun!

I'll probably just end up doing that. I was hoping there was one pre-made to the right size that didn't cost $70 dollars, but the only one's I've seen are boutique items.

As for the IBM keyboard, I know I wouldn't get along with it. I really dislike heavy keys.
