Android 2.2 ipad Alternatives
« on: Fri, 25 February 2011, 21:49:01 »
Just released in SZ (China). New iPad clones run Android 2.2 / Windows 7 with "decent" hardware equal to iPad, supporting Flash 10.1 and multitasking.

8" Android 2.2 aPad - 1GHz Cortex A8 Processor - 512MB DDR2

10.1" Windows 7 ePad - 1.66GHz Atom N455 - 2GB DDR3 - 32GB SSD

Any reviews, discussion on those? I have laid my money down and waiting for the courier to show up. Been burnt before and not holding my breath, but as an ebook reader and wifi surfer?

imo, ebook reader, get a kindle or comparable, the e-ink really does make a difference compared to a lcd screen.
no other opinions.

but don't ever buy chinese clones, they're just horrible things that work right half the time, i mean look at that monstrosity, it's a ghetto ipad, wtf!

I recently got a 7", 2.1 one.  It was mildly disappointing, although my expectations were pretty low.  The build type reminded me of my iRiver E100 (MP4 player), when I much preferred the old Sansa players with metal casing bolted together.  The performance was okay, but the touchscreen was fidgety and the screen itself had some reliability concerns.  Android is still, IMO, a clumsy multitasker-- like MacOS where the windows disappear and the apps stay around.  I wouldn't mind a WebOS tablet, but the price-premium versus a $100-200 Chinese job is a bit significant

how do you multitask on a droid tablet? i know my droid, i double tap and hold home, iphone you double tap quickly. Using both i like the iphone multitask more, tho this might be cuz the iphone has a physical button, whereas my droid home button is touchscreen.

I'm waiting for something as good as an iPad that runs Flash.

And Welcome to Geekhack - We Do Keyboards Too!

define "good". v1 iPad is a seriously crippled device.
