Looking for them keyboards for gaming!
« on: Sat, 05 March 2011, 07:16:25 »
Well, hello there. I am new here and know little about mech. keyboards. I was hoping you kind sirs would give me a hand.

I am Taiwanese and got relatives back in the motherland, so scoring these keyboards are quite easy. I found a site below that sells some of these boards:

http://www.inpad.com.tw/goods.php?catId=152

Which keyboard would geekhack'ers suggest on buying? Btw, I play SC2 and CS:S competitively, maybe that would help a bit. I was thinking about picking up a ducky 9008, white on white, and grab the additional black caps to make a checkered board. that would be pretty baller.

Please let me know your suggestions! any comments would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Geekhack scrub

You seam to be leaning to Cherry switche boards. A good choice for couple reasons.

- They come in so many look and feel flavors.
- Available replacement keycaps

Are you interested in backlit?
Do you want a tactile (sexy bumps in the middle) or linear?
Do you like them hard or soft? (Actuation force required to register the key when you press them?)

Have a look at the Cherry switch wiki ->Cherry+switches+and+boards

According to Razer (don't believe everthing you read on the Internet) the MX Blue are very popular amongst gamers.

As a Gamer myself I realy like the MX Clear (not many board options)
Hard core gamers here seam to like the MX Red (light touch linear)

Bottom line, you are on the right track with a ducky and it's a matter of personal taste for the switch you want (light, hard, tactile-clicky, tactile-quiet, linear)

EDIT: Forgot the most important for a gamer... Your keyboard must be NKRO -> Key roll over WIKI
Short story - NKRO assure all keys will register (in the order you pressed them) while keeping them all pressed.

And he'd get the UltraPolling as a bonus.
UltraPolling ables to draw your gun faster than Lucky Luke

NOTE TO SELF:
Lucky Luke is faster than light - That's a fact... Like God
But how about the bullets? Can they be pushed to that speed?
Oh... right... It's bull****... Like Razer marketting... Case closed.

They jack up the price and sell them in China.

It's called German Dumping.

Actually, they call it German Dumpling.
