Of course this does not really belong in great finds, since obviously the price will be ridiculous again. Its already getting there:

What was the reason this MY board reaches such an insane price? (I have one with light use sitting on my shelf if anyone is interested.)
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.

Because of the dye sub cherry keycaps I think. MY Board itself basically has no value, but the dye sub keys are rare. However imo, the price is still too ridiculous.

Well, it depends. But obviously those ebay bidders think dye sub's worth much more than double shots.

Wow, two more days to go and already at $223.50. Maybe it's time to put my NCR G81-3077SAU and/or the dye subs up for sale sometime soon...

Dye subs were made of PBT plastic and are twice as thick as the current lasered PBT keys. Doubleshots were made of ABS plastic that is not as hard. I suppose that the dye subs are also the rarest.

I still find it insane, though.

PBT won't yellow over time. That's the only practical advantage I can think of.

Funny thing is that dye sub legends eventually can wear whereas doubleshots likely won't.

I think that will hardly be an issue. Dye sub printing penetrates into the plastic by a couple microns.

Well, double shots will shine much easier than PBT dye subs.

Indeed.

The logical next step:  Sell adapter keys-- MX on the bottom, right size and shape to accept two-part Unicomps on top.
