Help Choosing a computer desk.
« on: Sat, 14 May 2011, 16:10:11 »
I've wanted for some time now to buy a computer desk, since every desk I ever used was either an old table or something else unsuitable for pc desk use. I just made full-time at my work so I'm willing to drop some dough (>$1000 all in).

For anything over $500 it would probably have to be solid wood. I'd like it to be ergonomic but good looking and maybe built in storage. I'm not opposed to taking a plain desk and adding drawers and cabinets etc... either.

Anywho... I figured someone here would have some ideas for a sick desk or at least point me in the right direction.

I have the IKEA Jonas desk, I like it. However, with the budget you're looking at, you'll find better for sure. :)

I picked up a straight galant over the weekend off CL for $65 (63x32) and have another Straight top jerker I picked up off CL for $60 (63x32) so I set them up as an L shape in my room over the weekend.  Not a bad setup for $125 bux.  Ill post a pic later, if I were you I would keep an eye on CL as you can find some decent deals ocasionally.

i just got the ikea VIKA HYTTAN/ VIKA MOLIDEN. i'll deal with adding a cabinet or drawer at some point. but it has the advantage of being a paper filled metal top rather than a paper filled plastic fake woodgrain top. i'm hoping it will prove to be a little more durable.
looks like an ikea fanclub in here.
