« on: Mon, 06 June 2011, 16:05:09 »
So I need a new monitor and I'm trying to choose between LG E2380VX-PN(http://www.lg.com/ae/it-products/lcd-monitors/LG-led-monitor-E2380VX.jsp)
ACER V233HABD (http://www.all-monitors.com/monitors/manufacturers/pos/acer_v233habd) and
DELL U2311H (http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/3414/quick_review_dell_u2311h_lcd_monitor/index.html)
Casual gaming, lots of HD movies and programming, which one would u pick?(I'm prob picking the Dell, just wanted to see what u guys think)

Just bought a new screen.

The Dell for IPS, input lag seems quite ok for gaming and I love the pivot-function. Some problems seem to occur with shiny edges of the picture, due to the orientation of the crystals of ips-panels.

If its available at your place, maybe you should look at the BenQ XL2410T. 24", 120Hz, LED, high contrast (needed for 3D), pivot and adjustable height. Stands right infront of me and I can not imagine a bigger viewing angle, being important to be a reason to buy an ips-panel. 160 degrees on the BenQ are a lot. Maybe this one is a bit pricy.

In German forums everyone loves the samsung BX2450 for beeing so affordable for its LED, 24" and nice picture.

The Acer has the worst viewing angles.  The LG stand looks tacky, but it's got better viewing angles and HDMI as well as DVI/VGA.  The Dell has an IPS screen (better viewing angles and uniformity), VGA/DVI/displayport inputs, and a built-in USB hub, which can be convenient.  HDMI/DVI adapters are cheap so the lack of HDMI isn't a real problem unless you need to be able to handle two digital inputs and neither is displayport.

Personally I prefer the extra height of a 1920x1200 monitor, which is why I have the older version of the U2410.  Built-in card reader, connectivity up the wazoo, and IPS panel.  Really good monitor.
Daily drivers are:
Microsoft Natural (the original, and still going strong)
Microsoft Natural Elite
