I also asked if it was possible for a Cherry MX Clear spacebar as that seems like a much desired configuration on these forums, but idk if that will work out but one can hope :D

Darn, they said all brown or all blue only :(

I am desoldering 200+ clear switches from 2 donor boards.  I can send you one if you want to switch the spacebar switch when you receive the keyboard.

Thanks for the offer, but no thanks, I don't feel comfortable enough with my soldering skills to try it on a $400 keyboard. :P

It is basically the cost of the carved alu case. You can always replace the rest with a leopold.
Btw I'm sure you can find geekhackers in your area who are willing to help you with the soldering.

while de-soldering my clear switch donor board, there is a grey switch for the spacebar.  Maybe a grey switch is even better!

Compaq G80-11802 (MX Brown) uses a grey switch for space bar, it PISSES ME OFF.  way too stiff compared to the rest of the keys; I try to use a light touch on the browns and end up missing spaces.  Maybe it'd be better with clears?  I haven't tried them yet, still waiting for my Cherry POS board (what I assume you are taking apart) to arrive.

If I end up not using the POS board I might put a clear in the 11802, although I can't really see myself using it seriously due to the weird layout (bought it to try the browns as I don't really have any kind of store that sells a variety of mech. keyboards nearby to try)
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

I just picked this up today from the post office (it was supposed to come yesterday July 5th but I missed the post office guy signature.)

The weight of the keyboard is very nice and comes with multi colored keys (green shifts, red controls, and teal alt's). idk if this is some kind of placebo effect, but the browns feel nicer on this keyboard than they do on the Zowie keyboard I also own. The orange honestly isn't that noticeable. I feel a little more cramped on this keyboard but that's probably just because I'm used to the keyboards with the tenkey. The sacrifices you make :L

Not gonna tell you anything until you post pictures of your new found love.  No, I am kidding.

You can go to the Group Buy forum to join Noodles RGB group buy.  Take a look at all the cool keycaps from Round 3 here.  And wait for Round 4.  Round 4 ordering should start as soon as Round 3 orders are all shipped out.  It is hard to say when that will be though.

My current camera is absolutely positively FUBAR (spilled Sprite on it TT) so I ordered a Panasonic Lumix LX5 and will be taking pictures of the MX Blue and MX Brown and posting my review when I get it.

I'd be in for 300 shipped or less.

Start a group buy thread!

Actually first, contact the guy and get a price estimate for like 30,50,70,100 orders or so. Then people can know what they're getting into before they vote.

I would be surprised if they would sell for less than $300 each even for a group buy of more than 10.  I will start a new group buy thread if he gets back to me and give me a reasonable price.

I would have been surprised if iomania did give a group buy discount. After all, it's their flagship keyboard that's targeted at a very few hardcore keyboard enthusiasts. And yes, they look like doubleshots do me too.

Why would aluminium be superior to plastics, seriously? Look at german cars, do they use a lot of aluminium? I don't think so. Maybe for the chassis, but not for the parts that are touched, for example the stirring wheel. Stirring wheels are always plastic. Even the ones that look like wooden wheels are plastic. The whole interior is either plastics, leather or artificial leather.

this is a really ****ty comparison

yeah, but I also have a set of new yellow topre keycaps coming that fits an 87U.  the set would work on my 86U, but the spacebar would not fit.  I could just have the whole keyboard with yellow keys and a white spacebar...  If I get an 87U, I will sell my 86U.

But I am getting off topic.  The Type Now Solid is indeed very nice.  But the Leopold spacebar is going to limit keycap options...

Pics are fine.  I'm trying to remember - how heavy is that thing?

At least they licensed the Windows key.    The Chinese clone companies don't even bother with that legal stuff.
Pretty damn heavy compared to the other keyboards I own.

But the weight is just oh so nice <3
