Google+, for those who didn't hear about it before, is Google's answer to facebook.

I got in today and i have to say i really like it so far. Especially the cycles (basically usergroups) are very handy and the whole thing is well made and feels good to use.

more info here: http://www.google.com/+/learnmore/

Anyway, whoever wants an invite, please let me know your gmail address and i will send you one.

greetings
peda

Are invitations open again?

I was able to get like 15 invites out before they closed them up and I still haven't seen the option show up on my page :(

no, they aren't but with adding to a circle and sharing something, people can still join.

Got one too from someone working at Google today.  Feels great.  However I'm a bit surprised: it works on my personal email but my "Google Apps for domain" account(s) can't join.  I was under the impression that now every feature for "regular" GMail users was also available for "Google Apps for domain" users (i.e. your email is all taken care for by Google but it appears xyz@xypto.com instead of xyz@gmail.com).

So I really like it but as of now I can only use it on my xyz@gmail.com account :-/

First thoughts: it's not Facebook.

EDIT: And I don't mean that in a snarky way, but in a "it is substantially different" way.

Probably the unavoidable 'mouse' click, although few laptops use clicky microswitches anymore for that sort of thing.

I suppose my unassuming link to xkcd wasn't enough.

I got a real invite from a person working at Google but I can't invite you myself yet (it says "Sending email invitations will be available soon") but however I did use the invite workaround to invite several people.

The workaround consist in adding the person(s) to be invited to a "circle" and to "share" something in that circle.  You'll then receive a mail from Google and you'll be able to click on "Learn more about Google+" and there you may be able to click on "Join" (it worked for several person I invited but then one person said it wasn't working).

Nobody knows for how long this workaround will work nor when the real invite will be available.

If you PM me your GMail address I'll add you to a "keyboard" circle and share one line of text so that you get the email.  Then you may be able to join.

I'm kinda using FaceBook on a regular basis and Google+ looks way better.

Replying to myself: it's because Google Profiles aren't available yet to Google Apps users.

That feature however is "coming soon" since march 2011: http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/03/coming-soon-to-google-apps-1-button-and.html so there's hope : )

Meanwhile I'm happy with Google+ on my personal email.

Invited several people using the workaround and now apparently they can't get through anymore.  I start to think this thing seriously rock and this time it may not be the Buzz / Wave fiasco.

Thanks for the invite, peda.  As TacticalCoder says, Google+ is down (or not letting new people in).  Will try again later.  Someone at Google may not have a long 4th of July weekend ... ;)

The UI on this can pretty much only be better than Facebook's, which (as far as I used it) never struck me as particularly well-designed. (Actually, I thought it sucked.)
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

Probably due to 'insane hatred' of Facebook by early-adopter geeks. They're a passionate bunch.
