So this is my first mechanical keyboard and my main problem is that everything led me to believe it is backlit and it clearly isn't... It has LEDs under each key and everything, and I see the function keys (8 and 2 on the keypad) that would control the brightness when I hold CTRL and press them but nothing happens. I've been searching around for answers but I can't find any. I've tried using both USB and PS2 and there is no difference. The "manual" it came with only tells me how to attach the wristpad which also says "Backlit Mechanical Keyboard powered by ione".... Also with what I've been reading on this forum this keyboard has given people trouble in the past. ****. I have a Das Keyboard Model-S sitting in its box still because I ordered it first then found this and thought I would like this better. I haven't RMA'd it yet for a refund.

Have you tried using the function key on the keyboard?
Keyboards: Omnikey 102 (complicated whites), Omnikey Ultra T (blues), Omnikey 101p (FUKKAs), Focus FK-2001 (comp whites), Escom (blues, for parts)

Snafu-

I was coming from the BlackWidow Ultimate which has a separate key to control the backlighting IIRC- I expected something similar on this KB...nope.
You have to hold down the "FN" key then hit, on the Keypad (on the right side), the number "2" to dim or turn off, or "8" to brighten. When you boot-up \ shut down the brightness setting will be lost- this is by design as the manufacturer has yet to release anything to fix this. Hope they fix this as this is kinda retarded...

Don't return it as it's a really good KB and a hell-of-a-lot better than the BWU to type \ game on...IMO

Forgot to mention, there is no function key. It's replaced by a windows key, and it acts like a windows key as well. I saw in a review video someone was able to do it by holding control. What I'm confused about is, they gave me the LEDs underneath all the keys and DON'T let me use them. If I knew enough about keyboards and all sorts of circuitry and soldering, I could get them to work. Doesn't make sense that they dished out the product and I can't use part of it. It's their loss almost.

U9BL-plus doesn't exist. There are U9 plus and U9BL.

BTW the situation is more or less the opposite of what you describe.

You bought a non backlit keyboard, you paid for a non backlit keyboard, you (likely) got a backlit one.

Which is not a good deal, is a steal....

Wow, thanks.

A steal on my part? or theirs. I'm so confused why they would do this...

I guess I can turn a disappointment into something kinda cool.

You paid, what... 80$ ?

The cheapest backlit mechanical keyboard is around 130$ so...

Likely to have greater scale economies, btw before any conclusion remove a random keycap and look if it's white/clear on the underside and look if the led is present.

If the answer is yes you have the 99% of a backlit keyboard.

The fn key is on the right side of the spacebar. Windows key is on the left. Did you catch that?

On the BL versions the win key you have on the right side is replaced by a FN key.

I figured out that the left shift key acts as the function key as well. I at least have volume/media control :)
