Filco Majestouch 2 - Brown or Blue switches?
« on: Sat, 30 July 2011, 15:00:56 »
Hi,

I just ordered a Cherry MX Brown Full size US ASCII Filco Majestouch 2 keyboard from The Keyboard Company.
I'm currently using the Razer Black Widow which has the Cherry MX Blue switch.
I'm thinking that maybe I should have gone with the Cherry MX Blue switch.
I'm quite happy with the Black Widow and I like typing on it but I wanted a better keyboard.
Do you think I should stick with the Blue switch?
I'm just afraid that if I get the brown switch and won't like it, then it'd be a waste and it's a gamble anyway since I can't try it before I buy.
Main use is for typing.
What do you think?

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Splashy.

Thanks.
So you think I should stick with the brown switch that I ordered in the first place?

Well the MX blues and browns are supposed to have a very similiar feel. The only difference between the two should be the clicking that the blues have.

OK then I think I'll go for the browns even for the sake of diversity since I already have an MX blues keyboard (the BW).
Thanks for your help.

That's what it's supposed to be like, but in my experience, blues definitely have more tactility along with its click. That small yet noticeable difference is what makes me lean towards blue switches. =)

IMO browns are definitely not just blues without the click. They feel a lot softer and I find them much more comfortable to type/game on. I would just stick with the browns, it's a pretty solid keyboard.. plus you might want to switch it up every now and then.

Having tried the black widow and now owing browns, I like the browns more. Blues are too clacky and I think the black widow is softer than the xarmorbrowns.

I've decided to go for the browns.
That way I'll have both browns and blues.
Plus I'd like to try the browns.
Thanks everyone for your input.
