IBM Model M with Displaywriter/Personal Typing System keytops

This is my first auction, so I'm holding off on the NIB items until I've got this Ebay thing figured out.

I am interested if anyone has any tips for what to put in the auction or what words work best. Every model M on ebay is vintage and rare so I don't know whether people will even spot my word processor version.

I did clean it up as well as possible without removing any keytops. Frankly it was in very good condition to begin with so there was mostly just some dust to worry about.

I am actually in the same town as Unicomp. I guess it could be beneficial to buy the PS/2 cables ahead of time without shipping and include them in these sales. Hindsight and vision and whatnot.

I welcome any advice you can offer me to being a good ebay seller. My selling history is non-existent though, and I'm worried this will scare away potential buyers.

I'd say posting it on Geekhack was the best thing you could've done, but classifieds may have been a more appropriate subforum under which to post. The listing itself is fine, although the claim about no broken rivets is a little hard to believe without some supporting evidence such as a picture. Good luck with your sale.

It would be better if your picture is larger so bidders can actually see the additional text on the non-standard keycaps.  The way it is now it is just another Model M on ebay.  Good luck!

I wish I had my camera at work when I had it disassembled. I'll remember to get pictures of the innards for the rest of my unboxed keyboards. Thanks for the advice.


I guess ebay must save millions on bandwidth by resizing your images. I actually paid for an extra image just to find out you couldn't zoom in far enough to see anything.
