Have you used all existing mechanical keyboards and know that QC is bad or are you trying to infer stuff from complaints on forums. I have purchased 6 mechs in the past 9 months and have had zero QC issues.
Well, in 2011 I had 2 blackwidow razer ultimates, 2 das professional silent s, and lastly a filco ninja black switch, so ive tried all 3 major switches and spent 2-4 weeks with each one.
Its not that the QC of mech kbs is that horrible, its just that they all have something wrong with them in one way or another. The blackwidows i had had broken LEDs under a key or 2, while the first das was great mechanically, it's shiny encasing was covered in scratches right out of the box brand new, and the replacement Das silent s had a led light under num lock that was shining very dim, also a sign of a serious defect. The filco was awesome, but had a messed up cherry black switch under F7. I could've lived with the messed up F7 key with the filco...but i paid 160 bucks for that board, so i expected it to be at least perfect for the first month or 2.
My only gripe with current mechs is that they're way too expensive, and if they're supposed to last 5x longer (50 million key presses) longer than rubber domes, theres no reason they should have so many little defects here and there when they're brand new right from the factory.
Also...with the exception of the das or bw ultimate...its hard to get a quick replacement of the other mechs out there. I wanted to replace my filco ninja, but theres no more stock...and ordering from UK would cost almost 200 dollars for the same item due to shipping.
