I got a, widow atm and the double tap issues get me so it's upgrade time. The two boards will be browns as I like the tactile feel. I'll be doing typing and gaming on them. The ducky will have pad printing and will be 80$ where as the leopold would be 109$

Leopold without a doubt. My friend owns a ducky brown, and I recently got my brother an FC500r red's and the leo's feel much more solid and better built imo, esp the keycaps.

Otaku or normal? I like the no printing but when I typo I look down to find the proper key.. I've read about linear switches and asked others about how they feel and haven't gotten an idea of how a black switch feels like at all. I'm only looking at browns because i love my blues. Keycaps, for filco boards will work on the leopold s right?

[insert ripster pointing someone to the wiki's here]

you won't be able to swap the spacebar.  however most, if not all, of the keys should be swappable.

decide which stabilizers you prefer.  one has costar, the other has cherry.  the keycaps are a little different as well, but i believe they're both etched *wanders to check the wiki*

*ok, back* according to the wiki, they're both ABS keys with lasered w/ infill or blank.

someone correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the B.widow and the WASD have the same stabilizers.  and yes, the otaku variant is the blank key version.

WASD has the "wire" stabilizers, and the keycaps are lasered with no infill. I have one, and I highly recommend it.

Got to your neighbors, press the doorbell, and run.

You've just tried a linear switch.

Flip a lightswitch.  You've just experienced tactile.

For a clicky tactile grab a bic pen.  CLICK! (a little ping too)

i love this explanation....sheer genius

Now I understand why I like the blue switches! Back in college I used to love switching my pen on and off.... CLICK! CLICK!, it was pissing everybody off. Same logic with my blues board... it just has 88 times more buttons that click <3

I've found rubber domes can vary greatly in feel.

Red's feel like they have almost no resistance as it goes down and it is mechanically smooth like a rail and then it just bottoms out when plastic meets plastic. Blacks have a more pronounced increase in resistance as the key is pressed but other than that the its the same.

As for browns, for me personally I get a tiny bit of tactility but in terms of resistance it feels almost linear. Blue's have more tactility due to the little snap but I don't like how it is delivered(personally)

I personally use ergoclears, best way to put it is they have this high resistance for like the first 1.5-2mm of movement then they just turn into redlike smooth and ease. In a way it sort of reminds me of buckling springs.

Anyhoo on one note most doorbells tend to feel mushy these days.

Silver reds or browns which should I get? Anything else to get a feel of linear? If I go red should I wait for corsairs board?

well the only thing i think you can try is pull apart a cheap clicky pen, and push on the ink tube into the bottom half of the pen, this will bottom it out without the clickyness. Although the pens' may feel more like the way i described blacks, kinda have to push down to keep the sucker down. Unlike red's where it's almost like the weight of my hand can keep em down but they float up when you release em. I personally see no difference in gaming between the two nor in typing, most feel the browns are better for typing but I tend to bottom out anyways so it doesn't matter to me. I'd say the red's are rarer and the Leo reds are a ridiculously good price at EK but browns are safer to go with. I can't tell you what you'll be happier with.

Linears feel terrible IMO, they feel much stiffer than they actually are. It is also much easier to avoid bottoming out on a non-linear switch. I would stick with blue if you don't find the sound annoying, because you will probably miss the click, or if you must switch switches, go to browns.

Also what is the point in Otaku? It is terrible if you don't know the keys 100% (as you stated), there really is no benefit to otaku/ninja, unless you think it looks amazing.

My Ducky 9008s are very well-built.  I really like my YOT edition 'board.  They rank right up there with the Filcos I had.  The Ducky 1087s are not that great, though.
