PC: ANSI set of 87/104 Doubleshots
« on: Fri, 23 September 2011, 23:00:03 »
Looking for a price check on a set of white on black ANSI doubleshots. I was thinking about buying some, buy I don't know what they're worth. Also, if you've got a set you want to sell, PM me. I'm looking to put them on a Leopold I will have in the future, so just a heads up there on the stabilizer types.

Risen from the dead for a model F.

Wyse buy colors were GSY for the dark grey, GBA for the light grey, and BBI for the fonts.

white or black? blacks are easy to find compared to white ones, plus you don't have to worry about them fading.

you will also probably have to get a moogle kit. non-stepped caps lock, and 1.25 sized control/alt are super hard to find.

you will have to modify a spacebar if you want it to match perfectly. also, the leo uses the windowed caps and scroll lock...also really hard to find in cherry corp doubleshots.

White on black. I don't mind stepped caps lock if it'll work with the Leopold. It would probably be way better for me, since I keep hitting the rightmost edge of the caps lock on the BW, since I came from a Model M. I thought the Leos used cherry style stabilizers? Why is a modification necessary? Though I probably wouldn't switch that, mainly because I only care about the contrast of the legends, and the space bar has none.

The stem on the stepped caps is off center so if you wanted to use it, you'd have to mod it to get it to fit.

The leos use cherry stabilizers but the spacing is very different. I don't understand why they chose to do that, but it's probably my only real complaint about mine. Cherry corp caps are a lower profile than most keys and your spacebar will stick up a little higher. some people don't care, but those little things are what drive me crazy. it's the only thing I have to mod on my poker.

also, you can edit your title to add white on black.

Bini is your $25 group buy going to happen?  $25 is as cheap as I've seen a used 2-shot set go for in my limited experience.

Brand new sets with center-stemmed 1.25 modifiers are available here for $80.  I think the only thing Leo-incompatible there is the caps lock and space bar (I have a WASD spacebar on my bedoubleshotted Filco btw, and I think it looks fine).

I know the set you're eyeballing and I think it's a good price if you have a use for the black switches (perhaps ergo clears?).  I thought about snagging it myself but I don't like the arrow-only shift buttons.

The mod is necessary because of the off-center stem.

edit: need to F5 more often

Ah, ok. Well, I could probably live with the modifiers not being normal. How much should I pay for a set though?

the_buff had a bunch of sets available a while back.  He wanted to trade them rather than sell them, but his thread went dead so I suspect he has some left.  You could make him an offer.
