RK-9000BR is pinging
« on: Wed, 26 October 2011, 11:02:06 »
I got my RK-9000BR today and I love it! I'm really surprised though at how light the "tactile" bump is. I can't even feel it while I am typing normally.

One thing I noticed though, is there is a slight "ping" or ringing sound when I let go of some of the keys. One of the more noticeable ones is the "a" key. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to mitigate it?

Thanks

Hah, wow...seems to be a pretty sensitive topic. Don't have time to research it now. I'll look into it more later tonight. Thanks.

You got a defective board. Must RMA as soon as possible or youre risking damaging your eardrum. HURRY!!

I'm pretty sure all mech keyboard have a little ping if you sit in a silent room with your ear up to the keys.  I did the same when I got mine and got all worried, but then I realized I'll never be in a situation of total silence with my ear 6 inchs from the keys.

After reading ripster's links, I think the metal plate probably just needs some dampening. If it bothers me enough I might take it apart and put a foam insert in there to dampen it, but I don't really notice it anymore and it's only been a few hours.

If you fill it up with foam, make sure you remove the keycaps first.

Hi OP. Sorry to see that you're getting trolled. Could you possibly post a sound sample so we can hear how bad it is?
It's possible the issue could be mitigated with dampening pads.
